Man, this is a big day for decades-later sequel news. Before we start though, I have a question for you all: Does anyone even remember Independence Day: Resurgence coming out? I barely do, and I've seen the entire thing twice, if you'd believe it. Both were for free, don't worry. I kinda wish it hadn't been made, though. And you know who agrees with me? The director, Roland Emmerich.
The Mouse House confirmed a little while ago that they'd finally decided to resurrect the cult Halloween classic Hocus Pocus on Disney Plus. All sorts of 90's kids rejoiced at this bewitching good news but people were immediately concerned that the three antagonists would not be returning. Sarah Jessica Parker recently revealed, however, that Bette Midler, Kathy Najimay and herself would indeed be reprising their roles in the sequel.
The Skywalker Saga is coming to an end soon (allegedly) when The Rise of Skywalker releases next month. The expectations for this film are sky high, but expectations were also just as high for the previous movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. No part of the pic was universally accepted though, except for the cute Porgs. Hell yeah, bring on the Porgs, baby.
Sitting down to chat with MTV News, Jason Momoa, Aquaman himself, admits that he's seen the Synder Cut and he really wants us to get a chance to as well.
Sometimes, when media transitions between mediums, higher ups decide that changing the norm, what is to be expected, is a good thing. And ya know what? Sometimes it is. However, in the case of Sonic the Hedgehog, the changes made to the titular character's design caused massive fan backlash, to the point the studio pushed the film back to change the character's design entirely. Jim Carrey, who until this point has been fairly reserved about the film, spoke up a little bit in a recent interview.
Out of all of David Lynch's work, it really seems like Twin Peaks is going to be his defining creation. The illustrious, weirdo director has had a many-storied career, almost winning an Oscar for an arthouse piece featuring Justin Theroux talking to a spooky Cowboy Ghost who secretly runs Hollywood. However, nothing has quite penetrated, and confused, the cultural zeitgeist like Twin Peaks: we have Agent Dale Cooper memes, entire Psych episodes dedicated to recreating the show, and one of the most successful decades-later revivals to date. However, after watching even one episode of the cult series, everyone has one question: "What the fuck just happened?"
Oh, Ewan. From courting Kidman in Moulin Rouge to courting a clone of ScoJo in The Island (remember that one? Oof!), Mr. McGregor has had an indelible impact on pop culture as a whole. He took his fame to a whole new level in 1999, though, when he inherited the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. After suffering through three movies full of coarse sand and green screens, Ewan's finally now getting another stab at playing a slightly-more-seasoned version of the beloved old Jedi in Disney+'s upcoming titular series, which will showcase the hermit's time on Tattooine, probably.
Many American holidays have their definitive films marking the occasion. For instance, John Hughes gave Thanksgiving and Christmas Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Christmas Vacation, respectively. But best of all, at least in my opinion, is when John Carpenter gave us the titular Halloween way back in 1978, when I was 14 years old. Specifically, Carpenter's classic debuted on silver screens 41 years ago this very day: October 25th.
In news that should shock few, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has outsold The Force Awakens on Fandango, promising another big winner for the franchise.
