Way back when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was first announced, many fans questioned whether or not it was always planned over at Warner Bros. After all, there wasn't so much as a single mention of the Dark Knight in Man of Steel, whereas the movie which followed that was packed full of world building as the studio seemingly tried to rush into both Justice League and a shared universe full of superheroes.
Marvel has started shooting Inhumans in Hawaii and the first photos from the set of the highly anticipated TV series have surfaced today. They feature some pretty massive reveals, too, as we get a first look at both Anson Mount suited up as Black Bolt alongside the giant teleporting dog Lockjaw. If you're wondering why he's bright blue, it's not because he's been given a new look; this is simply a CGI stand-in.
Thanks to Marvel Studios, post-credits scenes are all the rage these days, but Logan did not include one (despite rumours to the contrary). There are many directions such an extra could have taken, whether it was teasing a possible return for Wolverine or even the debut of Mister Sinister.
One of the best moments in the Old Man Logan comic book came when we learned that Wolverine had been manipulated into slaughtering his fellow X-Men. James Mangold's Logan, which is heavily inspired by the iconic arc, mentions the mutants' fate, but only offers only a vague explanation as to why the superhero team is no more. That's something which has frustrated fans, especially as including a scene even remotely similar to the source material would no doubt have been a highlight.
You may recall that Armie Hammer caused quite a stir last year by teasing the possibility that he was about to join the DC Extended Universe. For the most part, it appeared as if The Long Ranger star was making fun of the fact that people jumped to that conclusion based on some Twitter follows alone, but the vast majority of fans have not moved on from the possibility of him playing Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps.
Justice League was billed as a two-part movie when it was first announced, but the response to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice quickly changed that. As a result, you'd think Darkseid would have taken centre stage as the big bad of this franchise from the very start, but it will instead be Steppenwolf who the team assembles to battle in their first big screen outing this November. That doesn't mean we won't get at least a glimpse of Darkseid, however, as it sounds like a cameo for the villain in Justice League is on the cards.
The grounded nature of Netflix's Marvel TV shows is one of the many things which makes them so great, but the downside for comic book fans is the fact that it also means we're far less likely to see any of these heroes suit up. Now, the same can be said for Danny Rand in Iron Fist.
Though the Merc with a Mouth didn't end up having a cameo in Logan as many fans had hoped for, we did get what was arguably the next best thing - a teaser trailer for Deadpool 2. Actually, it wasn't so much a teaser as it was a promo, featuring the antihero in a rather hilarious scene complete with an appearance by the legendary Stan Lee. As expected, it's set the internet on fire as fans dissect it for hints and easter eggs that might point to what's to come in the highly anticipated sequel.
It's an exciting time to be an X-Men fan, that's for sure. Logan hit theaters this weekend and though it does mark the final chance to see Hugh Jackman don the adamantium claws, it's also one of the best comic book movies, ever, and without a doubt the franchise's high point. Looking further ahead, there's also New Mutants, X-Force and Deadpool 2 to start getting excited for. But what about the next entry into the main series?
Spidey fans have a lot to look forward to over the next little while, that's for sure. With the webhead set to headline his own solo outing in the form of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and also what will presumably be a large role to play in Avengers: Infinity War, there definitely won't be a shortage of Peter Parker on the big screen. But it won't only be the live-action version of the hero keeping fans busy, as Sony is currently working on an animated Spider-Man flick as well.
