Ever since the title of Rian Johnson's follow-up to The Force Awakens was officially announced as Star Wars: The Last Jedi a few weeks back, galaxy far, far away fans have been chomping at the bit for their first glimpse of some footage from the highly anticipated sequel. Speculation (and, frankly, common sense) pointed to that first teaser being screened at Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April, and sure enough, it's now been confirmed that Johnson will be in attendance.
After much uncertainty, it seems as if we'll definitely be getting a Suicide Squad 2. Those box office numbers proved to be strong enough to justify a sequel and now, Warner Bros. is on the hunt for a director. Earlier today, we heard that Mel Gibson was in talks and tonight, Variety is reporting that Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer and Warm Bodies' Jonathan Levine are also being eyed by the studio to take the helm.
Up until now, most of the previous plot rumors we've heard about Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi have, understandably, focused on Luke Skywalker and his (likely) new force-welding apprentice, Rey. However, thanks to the guys over at MakingStarwars.net we have some possible details on what former First Order Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter, Finn (John Boyega), is going to be up to in the follow-up to J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens.
For a while fans were uncertain whether the young girl (Dafne Keen) glimpsed in the first teaser for James Mangold's Logan would actually turn out to be X-23 (a clone of Wolverine in the comic books), but her identity was well and truly confirmed when we saw the character's lethal adamantium claws emerge in the recent full trailer for the film. It remains to be seen exactly how closely this incarnation of Laura Kinney sticks to her comic counterpart, but from the looks of this latest promo clip, her rather disturbing origin story will remain the same, at least.
Though Common may have started out in the music biz, the artist has taken some serious steps into acting in recent years and with another great role in John Wick: Chapter 2, which opened last week to solid reviews, he's becoming more and more of a bankable talent, proving that he can bring the goods on screen and in the recording booth. While we've already seen him dabble in comic book movies before, most recently in last year's Suicide Squad, that hasn't quelled his desire to dip his toes in the pool again. Although this time around, he's got his eye on a much bigger role.
Last week, it was announced that British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) had joined the cast of the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff. At the time, the only details accompanying the report indicated that she'd be playing a "key CG character" in the film, but now we might just have a little more to go on.
Though director J.J. Abrams has already confirmed that the force-wielding Jakku scavenger and the evil son of Han Solo and Princess Leia only laid eyes on each other for the first time during The Force Awakens, it was definitely hinted that the two principal Star Wars characters shared some kind of bond, or possibly prior knowledge of one another's existence, at least. This has led to various fan-theories about the duo, the most prevalent of which suggests that they are actually related by blood.
Well, that was definitely quite a step up now, wasn't it? AMC's The Walking Dead returned tonight and as promised, the midseason premiere picked things up and got this next batch of episodes off to an exciting start. The first half of season 7 was a bit of a dreary, drawn out trek through a lot of unnecessary subplots and minor characters getting too much screen time. This instalment, however, changed all that.
Ah yes, the good old Twitter casting rumor. It seems that almost every week a new one pops up, and while most of them lead to nothing at all, sometimes, they actually pan out. Today, we've got a pretty intriguing one for you, as fanboys now think that Arnold Schwarzenegger has snagged a role in Wonder Woman.
Ever since it was revealed that Logan would be Hugh Jackman's final time donning the adamantium claws to play Wolverine, fans have been holding out hope for some kind of appearance or cameo from Deadpool. Yes, the two characters were on screen together several years ago in the dreadful X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but since we're choosing to pretend that film doesn't exist, it doesn't count. Not to mention that the Deadpool presented there was an abomination.
