Capitalising on the ever-approaching Halloween season, Bethesda has released a terrifying trio of images for its upcoming survival horror game, The Evil Within. The screenshots, which you can tentatively peek at in the gallery below, offer us our first close-up look of Boxman; the menacing butcher who stalked the most recent trailer. What’s more, the company also published models of the antagonist over on its blog.
Downloadable content for Ubisoft’s open-world duo, Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, will remain exclusive to PlayStation 4 for six months, Sony has revealed. This platform-exclusive caveat, which was initially revealed by Shack News, can be spotted in a new promotional video for the company’s next-gen hardware around the 00:15 mark.
Infinity Ward has laid out the minimum specifications that are required to run the developer’s next title, Call of Duty: Ghosts, on PC platforms. The specs, which were previously leaked on Nvidia’s website earlier this month, detail the high-end threshold needed to play the first-person shooter, with Infinity Ward claiming the PC version of the game is “set to be one of the best Call of Duty experiences ever.”
Though Mark Cerny, lead architect behind the PlayStation 4, announced the feature back in February, Sony reiterated to Kotaku yesterday that gamers will be able to use their real names as an online ID when the console launches next month. The personal touch, which will allow players to be identified by their full name as opposed to a seven-year old pseudonym, is a key element in Sony’s plan to create a user-friendly online experience.
In a video demonstration published by Kotaku, it’s been revealed that achievements on Xbox One can be color-coded to each player to differentiate between the console’s unique users. This was unveiled during a presentation of Powerstar Golf – a Kinetic-centric launch title for the console – with a cyan colored notification appearing around the 11 minute mark, as opposed to the traditional grey indictor from the Xbox 360.
With Halloween a little over a week away, Naughty Dog is getting into the holiday spirit by rolling out a plethora of new garments for The Last of Us’ multiplayer. The downloadable content – which is included in the game’s season pass – is available from today and features 22 region specific hats that represent, you guessed it, 22 countries from around the globe. What’s more, the studio is also partnering with TripleWRECK to host the first online tournament for the game, which is set to take place on October 25th.
In the build up to PlayStation 4, we’ve had short films, live action advertisements and online auctions. And now, Sony has launched a new promotional campaign that will offer players the chance to bag some exclusive merchandise. Entitled Greatness Exchanges, the website invites players to use their collection of gold trophies in the daily sweepstakes; a system that Sony promises to be much more consumer-friendly than July’s online auction.
Sony has unveiled a new promotional advert which charts the PlayStation heritage across the company’s four home consoles. The brief video, which is set primarily in the UK, was inspired by the recent PlayStation Memories Twitter campaign; which invited gamers to reminisce about all-things-Sony in the build up to the PS4’s release next month. Released via the PlayStation Access YouTube channel, you can check out the video for yourself below.

In announcing the update, Matt Porter, Guerrilla Cambridge’s technical director, also addressed the game's substantial file size.
