In Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) makes the ultimate sacrifice for the team’s mission and the greater good. Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Natasha play a dangerous game of high stakes sacrifice roulette to earn the Soul Stone. Ultimately, Romanoff ends up taking the literal leap so that Barton can stay alive and see his family again. And while we'll see Johansson suit up one more time in Black Widow, it'll focus on a more personal story that's a prequel.
A large part of Avatar’s success can be attributed to how visually stunning the world of Pandora looked. Even by today’s standards, the 2009 sci-fi blockbuster is one of the prettiest pieces of cinematic eye candy to grace the big screen. Moreover, it ushered in the ubiquity of 3D cinema, with most films since being released in regular 2D alongside their 3D counterpart, even if the experience didn't get any better with the added dimension in most cases.
Giancarlo Esposito might play some of the most iconic and nuanced villains across various franchises, but in real life he seems like a pretty nice guy. Esposito plays the role of Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, an officer in the Galactic Empire who’s made it his mission to track down Mando and The Child. And in the actor’s opinion, The Mandalorian is exactly the kind of show we need right now, one that exemplifies the journey of a true hero.
As far as spinoff movies go, Solo: A Star Wars Story didn’t quite generate the same level of excitement as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story did, and ended up being a fun but forgettable Han Solo origin tale. But one aspect of the pic that did get everyone talking was Darth Maul’s unexpected cameo near the end of the film, a character who was a redeeming element of the Prequel Trilogy and has arguably not been given nearly enough screen time in cinemas.
There's no stopping the momentum of the juggernaut animated show that is Avatar: The Last Airbender. After being uploaded to Netflix on May 15th, the series managed to rocket to the top spot on the streaming platform’s Top 10 shows list - no mean feat for something that first released all the way back in 2005. And now, Nickelodeon’s TV series has broken a record on the platform.
It’s clearly a sign of how good a movie is when, more than a year after its release, we’re still discussing it and have questions about certain decisions or plot points. Now, obviously these don’t include questions like, “What were they thinking?” or “Why was this even made?" Rather, it's about being able to place ourselves in the moment and taking a deep dive into certain aspects. This time, we’re talking about why Iron Man didn’t use one particular invention of his against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
The rest of the Star Wars universe might be experiencing some upheaval, but the TV adventures of The Mandalorian set in a galaxy far, far away are being met with universal praise. The excitement for season 2 is at an all time high as well, especially after the action-packed season 1 finale, which saw the introduction of a character who looks to be the main series villain and some neat surprises.
Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League might be adding yet another character that’s long been rumored to make an appearance. We've already heard that Darkseid is being built up as the main antagonist, and cryptic teases have hinted at the Martian Manhunter playing a significant part in the revised plot, too. And now we might have been given a sign that Green Lantern will make his debut as well.
