We're in the midst of June now, halfway through 2015, and it's safe to say that it's been an interesting six months at the box office. We've seen some huge blockbusters blow through ticket records, female-led movies cement their place in the blockbuster season, feats of cinematic ingenuity flourish at the multiplex and truly thought-provoking films emerge from the most unexpected of places and genres. On the other hand, we've sat through Fifty Shades of Grey and Get Hard. So, it's been a mixed bag.
This is it: after sifting through streams of rumors and speculation, we're now within touching distance of E3 2015. Beginning on Sunday, June 14 with Bethesda's inaugural presser, the biggest names in gaming will descend on the Los Angeles Convention Center throughout the course of next week, and us here at We Got This Covered couldn't be more excited.
Now, with Avengers: Age of Ultron hitting theaters across Europe and other PAL regions and Ant-Man set to conclude Marvel's Phase Two in July, the long-discussed transition to Phase Three -- a transition that will introduce moviegoers to Doctor Strange, Black Panther and, crucially, Spider-Man -- is almost upon us.
With Avengers: Age of Ultron capping off Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe this May, and the studio moving boldly forward into Phase Three, which will bring new characters like Captain Marvel (yes, the Carol Danvers version!) and the Inhumans into the fold, the future is beyond bright for comic-book fans. So far, Marvel has put nary a foot wrong (we're just going to go ahead and overlook the weaker aspects of Iron Man 2 on account of it giving us Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow), both in terms of its films' plots and the actors that the studio has cast as its super-powered protagonists, and there's no reason to think that trend is going to end anytime soon.
2014, though not the strongest year for film in recent memory, certainly provided many memorable titles that we're all eager to watch again. While it's hard to say that there was one definitive movie that absolutely blew everyone away this past year, there were a rather large handful that made a strong impact on the film community.
2014 offered television viewers more options than ever before, with Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu all jumping in on the action, popularizing alternate sources of getting your fix without taking anything away from more traditional network television - the more, the merrier.
After ploughing through as many games as possible, the We Got This Covered staff present to you the twelve best gaming moments of the last twelve months.
So while we've long heard of Far Cry 4's greatness, the fact that Destiny is, for all intents and purposes, a flawed masterpiece, along with Mario Kart 8's excellence, it's time now to usher some of 2014's more unassuming and, perhaps, lesser-played releases into the limelight for your consideration. Those pleasant surprises that stole our free time and, ultimately, deserved more attention that they got in the first place.
We've already touched upon those titles that left us with a bad taste in our mouths, so, let's adjust the pendulum to a more positive beat and consider the very best software of the last twelve months. With that said, we've scoured through the rereleases and botched launches so you don't have to and compiled a list of the top ten video games of 2014.
