Anchor Bay along with The Weinstein Company has announced the Oscar nominated Meryl Streep film The Iron Lady for Blu-Ray in April. The biopic focuses on the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The film looked kind of boring to me, only grabbing my attention because of Meryl Streep, who manages to fully capture any role she’s in. She has my respect as a very dedicated actress, but her films generally don’t scream, “Watch me”. Still, the Oscar nomination should attract some attention towards the film and Streep.

Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review.

As it stands, The Iron Lady isn’t doing any favours for history, feminism or at the very least fans of biopics, but it is a clear victory for Streep. It’s just too bad that the film doesn’t do her spot-on (and possibly soon-to-be award-winning) performance any justice.

The Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc will come with five behind-the-scenes featurettes. Here’s a list below.

  • The Making of The Iron Lady
  • Recreating the Young Margaret Thatcher
  • Battle in the House of Commons
  • Costume Design: Pearls and Power Suits
  • Denis: The Man Behind the Woman

The Iron Lady will be released on April 10th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
