Just a week after we learned about Marvel’s plan for an Ant-Man sequel (titled Ant-Man and The Wasp), the studio has announced today that the first film will hit digital platforms on November 17th and DVD and Blu-ray on December 8th.
In a fun twist, the trailer for the release is narrated by Michael Peña, reprising his role from Ant-Man as the fast talking Luis. It’s a fun approach to the standard previews normally thrown together for home video releases, but what’s even more exciting is the fact that we get a first look at Ant-Man‘s gag reel and deleted scenes. There’s nothing too revealing in regards to the latter, but we’ll likely hear more details about what those will involve nearer the planned release date.
There’s also a behind the scenes look at how those incredible shrinking scenes were created, something which promises to be a highlight of the featurettes included on the Ant-Man Blu-ray. Or, as Luis puts it, how director Peyton Reed realized the adventures of the “super-fly, super-handsome crew of delightful gentlemen” featured in the final Phase 2 movie.
With Ant-Man set to appear in Captain America: Civil War next year, it’s going to be interesting to see if there’s any sort of Phase 3 sneak peek included among the special features on the disc. We’d imagine there will be, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
