Sony Announces The Raid: Redemption For Blu-Ray In August

If there's one film that lived up to all of the buzz surrounding its festival run, it would be The Raid: Redemption. Sony has announced the foreign martial arts action flick The Raid: Redemption for Blu-Ray in August.

If there’s one film that lived up to all of the buzz surrounding its festival run, it would be The Raid: Redemption. Sony picked up the foreign flick and slowly started rolling it out, eventually leading to a nationwide release. The film is easily one of the most impressive of the year, with some of the best hand-to-hand combat since Tony Jaa‘s Ong Bak films.

There’s something insane about Gareth Evans‘ action flick that feels groundbreaking, yet homage paying all at the same time. He injects enough badass in the film, via flying fists and brilliantly choreographed fight scenes or the hundreds, if not thousands of bullets pumped out within the opening minutes.

Simply put, The Raid: Redemption is the best action flick of the year.

Our very own Kristal Cooper had this to say about the film in her review:

This adrenaline-fuelled spectacle of flying fists, whirling kicks and spurting blood will leave you breathless, exhilarated and shouting for more.

Sony will be bringing the film to Blu-Ray in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track and an UltraViolet digital copy. The following features have been confirmed:

  • Commentary with writer/director Gareth Evans
  • Bootcamp
  • Set Location, Camera & Lighting, Make-up & Special Effects
  • Courtyard, Hole Drop
  • Drugs Lab, Tama’s Office
  • Machete Gang & Corridor, Jaka vs. Mad Dog

The Raid: Redemption will be available for purchase on August 14th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
