Aliens: Colonial Marines Is Chock Full Of Tension

The driving force behind the Alien film series was undoubtedly tension. Sure, its best entries featured great performances from good actors, which created memorable character studies amidst chaos, but a developed threat of the unknown was responsible for almost all of the movies’ most memorable parts. With that being said, it’s no surprise that Gearbox Software put a lot of work into mimicking that tension in Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Shown below is a brand new developer diary, which focuses on creating the all-important effect. Within it, key players talk about how translating the iconic radar blip into the game resulted in the familiar effect that they’d needed, but detours are also taken, wherein returning environments are shown.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will make us fear dark rooms and radar screens starting on February 12, 2013.
