Here’s Your First Look At The Next New Apex Legends Weapon

I am forever impressed at the diligence and skill of data miners, who trawl through the game's files and code in order to find secrets that the developer might have preferred stay hidden. Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends exploded in popularity last month, and with that came a thorough search through the game to see what's coming up. @Shrugtal already turned up a tonne of cool information, including the existence of a new weapon: the L-STAR EMG. Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends exploded in popularity last month, and with that came a thorough search through the game to see what’s on the way. @Shrugtal already turned up a ton of cool information, including the existence of a new weapon: the L-STAR EMG. And now they’ve discovered a fully textured model for the gun, including legendary skins.

As you can see below, this is a pretty neat looking weapon, especially the slick black and yellow legendary skin. While we haven’t seen this gun in action in the game yet, we do have a decent idea of its stats. For one, it’ll be a light machine gun, which delivers 21 points of body damage and 42 for a headshot. It’s got a low rate of fire, but will be a useful tool for players with quick reflexes and a great aim.

But when can we try it out for ourselves? Well, that, sadly, is a little hazy. Still, the fact that there’s a fully textured model in the game files suggests its release could be imminent. With the introduction of launchpads teasing new character Octane’s Ultimate Ability, it seems that Respawn are gearing up for the start of Season 1 and the release of the Battle Pass, but precisely when that’ll happen hasn’t been confirmed.

Whenever it does drop, new equipment like this should shake things up a little bit while keeping the core mechanics intact. Obviously, the simple addition of a new gun isn’t going to be a game-changer for Apex Legends, but when you’re doing this well, you may as well stay on the course, right?
