7 New Features We Can’t Wait To Try In Destiny 2

2) New And Improved Iron Banner/Trials Of Osiris

Bungie’s not quite reached the stage yet where it’s ready to pull the plug on both of Destiny‘s popular PvP events ahead of Destiny 2‘s launch. Indeed, while Trials of Osiris is, for the time being, scheduled to return on a weekly basis, its counterpart mode Iron Banner has officially been given an extended leave of absence until its moment of glorious rebirth later this year.

Both competitive playlists have already been confirmed (as if there was every any doubt) to be returning for the sequel, but just as it’s done for Destiny 2‘s run of the mill Crucible, Guardians can likely expect the rules to be rewritten for their second coming. Just how, exactly, it plans to shake things up for each mode; Bungie’s not quite ready to divulge that information, but I’m certainly willing to hazard a few guesses.

The first and most-likely-to-be-true speculation is, of course, that both formats will adopt the same 4v4 structure as the standard Crucible, a potentially game-changing adjustment for Trials, where one extra player on each team could drastically alter the flow of any given round. A second, and slightly more contentious, suspected change is the total removal of revives and respawns. With the Warlock’s self-reviving Sunsinger subclass not due to return for Destiny 2 (replaced instead, with the swanky Dawnblade), it’s a logical conclusion to make.

Whatever the case, ensuring the formula of each doesn’t grow stale during the transitional period is a sound decision to make. Let’s just hope it pays off.
