Mr. X Enrolls In The Umbrella Academy In Awesome Resident Evil 2 Fan Art

Long before The Umbrella Academy graced Netflix, the term ‘umbrella’ was associated with another geek-friendly franchise: Resident Evil.

If you’re at all familiar with Capcom’s genre-defining horror series, you’ll know that the Umbrella Corporation was responsible for the T-virus and all of its many mutations. They single-handedly brought humanity to its knees, all the while unleashing a deadly zombie plague upon the remaining survivors.

Suffice it to say, they won’t be competing for the International Business Awards anytime soon, but over on Twitter, concept artist extraordinaire BossLogic has latched onto that connective tissue and produced a new piece in which Mr. X – the Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 – enrolls in the Umbrella Academy.

Feast thy eyes:

Pretty cool, eh? Mr. X proved to be the star of the show once Resident Evil 2 hit current-gen systems earlier this year, and his foreboding presence was enough to inspire all sorts of delightful, far-ranging mods for Capcom’s beloved remake.

It’s the latest in a long line of success for the Japanese giant, given Devil May Cry 5 recently earned rave reviews – including our own – for its super-slick gameplay and incredible sense of style. This, coupled with the blistering success of RE2, has prompted rumors that Capcom will soon revisit the horrors of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

We’re still yet to hear any update on that front, but after the RE2 remake shipped 4 million units in its first month, we can’t imagine Capcom will wait too long before it introduces Nemesis to current-gen consoles. And then there’s the equally exciting proposition that is Resident Evil 8. In the words of Capcom America CEO Kiichiro Urata, “Capcom is back!”
