Mortal Kombat 11 Leak Basically Confirms Ash Williams And Joker

The Mortal Kombat franchise is renowned for its gory fighting action, with each entry somehow managing to find new ways to dismember, explore and otherwise torture its cast of character. But since the series was rebooted back in 2011, it's also becoming well known for its cool guest characters. Previous guest stars have included Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, the Predator and Giger’s Alien - and it seems that Mortal Kombat 11 is set to follow suit.

Back in April, data-miners combed through the game’s Switch release, discovering hints that some very cool folks would be added to the title: Shang Tsung, Joker, Nightwolf, Sindel, Terminator, Spawn, Ash Williams, Sheeva and Fujin. We’ve since seen the arrival of that first name, with Sindel, Nightwolf and the Terminator also being confirmed. These releases only add legitimacy to the leak, something further underlined by another data-mining exercise of the latest PC patch which contains yet more references to these new characters.

The only question now is in which order they’ll be released. Kombat Pack 1 features six fighters, with Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel and Spawn making up four of them. Smart money says that Ash will be one of the remaining two with the other yet to be confirmed (though I’d imagine it’s one of the classic MK characters).

That information should shed some light on the contents of Kombat Pack 2. However, if the first pack has six characters, we should expect the second to match it. This means that there are three new fighters as yet unaccounted for. I know who I’m hoping to see as one of the mystery ones. Zoinks!

By the time this is complete, Mortal Kombat 11 will be a formidable fighting package, with the series having staked out a reputation not only for quality both in the moment-to-moment brawls, but in the single player experience as well.
