Fortnite season 8

The First Teaser For Fortnite Season 9 Has Arrived

As the cyclical nature of Epic's content roadmap for Fortnite grows ever more ambitious, anticipation for the battle royale's upcoming refresh has hit fever pitch. As always, the limbo period between seasonal transitions has been filled with several mysterious live events, one of which recently marked the total annihilation of Battle Island's Tilted Towers. The fiery destruction comes as a result of Loot Lake's volcano erupting in glorious fashion, though that's not the only type of landscaping currently going on. A gigantic fissure in Polar Peak's iceberg has since revealed itself to eagle-eyed visitors, with more likely still to come.

As always, the limbo period between seasonal transitions has been filled with several mysterious live events, one of which recently marked the total annihilation of Battle Island’s Tilted Towers. The fiery destruction comes as a result of Loot Lake’s volcano erupting in glorious fashion, though that’s not the only type of landscaping currently going on. A gigantic fissure in Polar Peak’s iceberg has since revealed itself to eagle-eyed visitors, with more likely still to come.

This is far from the first time that cataclysmic events have affected the geography of Fortnite‘s sandbox, though Season 9 is certainly looking likely to usher in the biggest changes yet. The burning question on everyone’s minds though, of course, is when does the brand new season kick-off? Well, May 9th is your answer, meaning players have little more than a few days left to exercise patience, though the release of Epic’s first official teaser should help to make the wait more bearable.

Truthfully, there’s nothing particularly revelatory about the above image, though the headgear shown off is certainly a point of interest. Fans of Japanese mythology will surely notice the mask’s resemblance to that of an Oni as well, suggesting that an Oriental theme could be on the cards. This interpretation has been adorned with a futuristic aesthetic, however, so pinpointing exactly what Epic is planning is near-to-impossible.

Regardless, all will be revealed later this week – no doubt in bombastic fashion – but there’s plenty to be getting on with in the meantime. Once Fortnite Season 8 officially reaches its end, Battle Stars and rewards tied to its associated Battle Pass will no longer be available, so if you’ve still got a bunch of challenges to tick off, now’s the time to do it. For all the tips and pointers you need for the current Week 10 challenges, see here. Good luck!
