10 Characters Who Could Cameo In Justice League

Justice League is going to be a big movie. Not just in terms of the box office business it will rake in, or in the scope of its apocalyptic storyline, but in the length of the cast list in the credits. As well as uniting Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Mamoa and Ray Fisher as the titular League, the movie will also feature a bunch of supporting characters from the heroes' individual franchises. For instance, the likes of Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amber Heard as Queen Mera, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Willem Dafoe as Vulco and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor are all set to appear in some capacity. While having such an inflated cast could hinder the movie, you can understand why Zack Snyder and his team have brought in so many characters. After all, this is the first time that the full reach of the DC universe has been allowed to feature on the big screen. Even despite the incredibly large confirmed cast, however, there are still many other characters who could possibly cameo, as well. On that note, putting together what we know about the film and the rest of the DCEU, we feel that these 10 heroes, villains and supporting players all have a pretty decent chance of turning up in Justice League. 10) Martian Manhunter Martian Manhunter's importance in the Justice League shouldn't be understated. From the team's inception in 1960 until The New 52 reboot came along in 2011, the last Martian was presented as one of the team's founding members and a hero who had served on various variations of the League over the years. In The New 52, however, Cyborg was bumped up to founding member in his place and J'onn J'onzz's significance was lessened. Old-school DC fans will always see Martian Manhunter as a top tier member of the Justice League, though, so it would be great if the character could still find a way to turn up in the movie, even if he isn't actually joining the team. One way that he could appear is by taking the form of a human character to aid the League in disguise, before the character unveils his true nature in a future movie. There's even a precedent for this, as many fans believed that Harry Lennix's General Swanwick in Man of Steel was really the Martian. 9) Glorious Godfrey Sidestepping the question of whether he's been successful at it or not, something Zack Snyder has aimed to do in his DCEU movies so far is to deconstruct the heroes and examine their place in the modern world. For instance, Batman V Superman looked at the mixed responses to Superman from the government and the media. Assuming Snyder wants to keep that up in Justice League, Glorious Godfrey would fit right in. In the comics, Godfrey is one of Darkseid's minions who comes to Earth ahead of him to weaken humanity's faith in its heroes. He poses as a right-wing reverend who whips up a hate campaign against superheroes. Godfrey might not be as well known as other names on this list, but would make a whole lot of sense if he was included in the movie. Even if they removed the connection to Darkseid and reduced his importance, Godfrey's inclusion would be a nice callback to the comics and would be a perfect match for Snyder's approach. 8) Orion Sticking with the Fourth World mythology for a moment, the inclusion of the forces of Apokolips leaves the door wide open for the rest of the New Gods to appear in Justice League. In case you're not familiar with the mythos started by Jack Kirby in 1971, Apokolips has a sister planet called New Genesis. Whereas Apokolips is hellish, New Genesis is a utopia populated by the New Gods. Their greatest hero is Orion. Darkseid's biological son, Orion was raised by New Genesis' High Father and has fought his evil dad on a number of occasions, as well as allying himself with the Justice League. With the focus quite rightly being on Earth's heroes, there won't be room to feature Orion in a major capacity, but that doesn't mean he couldn't turn up briefly. Either as an easter egg for the fans to pick up on or a set-up for a potential future appearance later on down the line. 7) Black Adam We've known for a while that Black Adam was coming to the DC Extended Universe. Ever since Dwayne Johnson was revealed to be attached to the Shazam movie in 2014. Since then, Shazam has been put on hold, but Johnson's commitment to the role remains firm. Given that, it doesn't seem impossible that Warner Bros. would have sneaked him into Justice League for a cheeky cameo. We've even thought of a way he could fit in to the movie's narrative. We know that it'll be revealed that Mother Boxes have been hidden on the Earth throughout history - for instance, medieval times. So why not take a brief trip to Ancient Egypt? In other words, the home of Black Adam. Come on, a bit of Dwayne Johnson never hurt a movie's box office. Of course, we'd love to see Shazam make an appearance as well, but we're pretty sure the character hasn't been cast yet, as we'd surely have heard something by now. Who knows, though, he could appear as Billy Batson instead? 6) Robin/Nightwing There are two ways that Robin could turn up in Justice League. The first option is we see the flashback to Jason Todd's death at the hands of the Joker. This iconic event from the comics was already confirmed to have taken place in the DCEU as Todd's Jokerized outfit is shown in the Batcave in BvS. Obviously, the most natural home to explore this backstory would be in The Batman, but there's nothing stopping Snyder from dropping another hint at it in this movie. The second option is Nightwing turns up. The existence of Jason Todd in the DCEU also suggested that his predecessor Dick Grayson was running around somewhere. That was confirmed when it was announced that a Nightwing movie was in development. Seeing as that movie wasn't revealed until after Justice League had finished filming, and that no casting announcements have been made so far, it's unlikely we'll get to properly meet Grayson in the film. However, there's nothing stopping him from turning up in a flashback to his time as Robin or perhaps even just in silhouette form. 5) The Joker Justice League is the culmination of the growth that the DCEU has undergone over Man of Steel and BvS. However, there's another DCEU movie rolling around as well: namely, Suicide Squad, starring Amanda Waller's team of supervillains. It would make a lot of sense, then, if that movie's cast could be included in some way here. And the one we want to see most in Justice League has to be the Joker. An appearance by the Clown Prince of Crime in the movie would be an easy fit if the flashback to Todd's death is included, as we were just saying. On the other hand, we have a feeling that there might be a trip to Arkham Asylum on the cards in the movie - seeing as Lex Luthor was moved there at the end of BvS - so it's possible that Joker will appear in that sequence. Simply have Batman encounter Mr. J in his cell on the way to meet Luthor (presumably to discuss what he knows about Steppenwolf). It would be a great little scene that would give us the first on-screen meeting of Ben Affleck's Batman and Jared Leto's Clown Prince of Crime. Previously, rumours about a Joker Justice League cameo have been strongly denied by inside sources, but we can't help but to think that it's still a possibility. 4) Hal Jordan Probably more than anyone else on this list, Hal Jordan deserves to be in the Justice League movie. Green Lantern has been a charter member of the League in every practically every version and he's a fan-favourite character to boot. If nary a mention of the Emerald Knight is made in Justice League, you can be sure that DC fans won't be happy. Thankfully, there's a good chance that Jordan will show up in some form. For one, early posters for the movie ran with the tagline: "Unite the seven." Which is kind of odd considering we've been led to believe there are only six Justice Leaguers in the film. Elsewhere, the internet has been rife with speculation that Armie Hammer has been cast in the role, something that Hammer himself has trolled fans with incessantly. But is that all it is, or is Hammer double bluffing? 3) Another Green Lantern On the other hand, it doesn't have to be Hal Jordan who appears in Justice League. As the title of the movie suggests, Green Lantern Corps will star many different Lanterns. There are definitely a heap to pick from, too. John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz...the list goes on. Alternatively, it could be one of the many alien Lanterns. If Corps wants to deal with the first human Green Lanterns that would make a lot of sense. Justice League could introduce the organization before we properly get to know them in a later movie, then. Again, we have it on pretty good authority that an alien Lantern will appear in some form. We know it isn't Kilowog, but that still leaves the door open for other notable members. For instance, Tomar-Re or even Abin Sur, the Lantern who gives his Power Ring to Hal Jordan. 2) Deathstroke Fans were whipped into a frenzy when it was revealed that Deathstroke would be coming to the DCEU last year. As played by Joe Manganiello, the supervillain was said to be the main antagonist of The Batman. Since then, however, Matt Reeves' film has undergone a major shaking-up, which has left Deathstroke's future in the franchise in doubt. However, there is one thing that we're pretty sure we can count on: a Deathstroke cameo in Justice League. The fuel for this theory comes from an image Zack Snyder shared on Twitter a few months ago of him examining a storyboard for the movie. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the storyboard seemed to feature a costumed Deathstroke. Snyder must have known what he was doing when he posted the picture, and if this isn't a confirmation that the assassin will appear in the movie, then I don't know what is. We've no idea how the character would fit into what we know of the film's narrative, but hey, if it gives us an awesome action sequence where the League face off against the Terminator, then we're all for it. 1) Darkseid Here's the character who makes the most sense above all others to cameo in Justice League. It's been confirmed for a while now that Darkseid would be held back for this first team-up movie before making his presence felt in the second Justice League film. As such, the central villain here will be Darkseid's general, Steppenwolf. Still, there's very little chance that the Lord of Apokolips won't appear in some capacity. We can't help but think of The Avengers, and how Thanos showed up at the end of that movie. Obviously, DC doesn't want to simply copy Marvel, but that's the level of inter-connectivity and foreshadowing we're used to in our superhero movies nowadays. For Darkseid not to show up at all would be a big letdown. Certain sources have stated that Darkseid will be seen but not heard in Snyder's film. Presumably, then, he'll be pulling the strings in the background and the reveal of the big, blue bad guy in the stony flesh will be held back until future movies. Sounds good to us. Though we wouldn't mind if that other rumour about Jeff Bridges already being cast in the role came true, either.
