Bane And Scarecrow May Face Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight In The Batman

As well as the news that Robert Pattinson is the first choice for the lead role, last week brought us other intriguing details on Matt Reeves' The Batman. Namely, that the Dark Knight will be facing off against not one or two, but six of his deadliest enemies in the movie. The Penguin and Catwoman are reportedly at the top of the pack, with We Got This Covered hearing that the Riddler will be the tertiary antagonist.

The BYO Show YouTube Channel is now claiming to add another two names to that list, though. The show says they were informed Pattison was going to play Batsy back in January, and given that this has now been proven right, they’ve decided to share what other intel about the film they heard at the time. This includes that Bane and Scarecrow will be part of The Batman‘s six-strong rogues gallery of villains.

Unlike Penguin and Riddler though, who haven’t been on the big screen since the 90s, Bane and Scarecrow were both introduced to moviegoers by Christopher Nolan in his Dark Knight trilogy. Tom Hardy memorably played the man who broke the Bat’s back in The Dark Knight Rises, while Cillian Murphy’s Jonathan Crane appeared in some form in all three, beginning with Batman Begins.

What’s more, The BYO Show reports that Reeves has locked down his top picks to play these villains: Theo Rossi (Shades in Luke Cage) for Bane and Toby Kebbell (Doctor Doom, 2015’s Fantastic Four) for Scarecrow. This follows on from the same source’s claim that Vanessa Hudgens is lined up to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if any of this actually pans out, but at long last, The Batman is thought to start filming this November, prior to its release in theaters on June 25th, 2021.
