What do you get when you put John Travolta, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and the existing cast of The Expendables together? Something that the word awesome can’t even begin to describe. While Sylvester Stallone may have handed over directing duties on The Expendables 2 over to Simon West, the core cast will be returning. So far we have Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and of course, Stallone himself.
Today, Collider is reporting that a couple new names are popping up in regards to casting. The film is shooting in Bulgaria and the CEO of Bulgaria-based NU Boyana studios, David Varod, recently dropped a bit of surprising news, telling Novinite that Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and John Travolta will be on hand for the shoot.
Now, as awesome as this would be, take it with a grain of salt. It’s likely that it will turn out to be false. That being said, Van Damme was offered a role in the first film but turned it down, so it’s very possible he could be involved with a sequel.
As for Chuck Norris, no doubt action fans would kill to see him in the film and many people petitioned for his involvement in the sequel. Could fans be getting their wish? Possibly. Both JVCD and Norris have been heavily rumored for the sequel, especially JVCD, so I wouldn’t totally doubt their involvement.
And then there’s Travolta, who I would love to see take a villain role. He’s not exactly an action star but I think he would be perfect as the bad guy. Out of the three, I think I’d be most excited to see him in the film. Not necessarily because he’s the greatest actor, just because I think he would steal scenes as a campy bad guy in the film.
Now apparently, JVCD is already rumored to be the villain, but it’s not confirmed. And even if he was, they could always have two villains, right? Imagine JVCD and Travolta together as the bad guys, oh the possibilities.
