The hype over this hypothetical situation has given Elba no rest, with the actor being repeatedly asked about it whenever an interviewer sees fit — which is to say, all the time. Unsurprisingly, the conversation has been stirred once again, leaving many to question whether or not their prayers have finally been answered.
Last year, the James Bond producers even admitted that Elba was being considered for the role, so it’s only natural for folks to get excited when they see a viral tweet from Mohamad Safa, the Representative of Patriotic Vision to the United Nations, seemingly confirming the happy news we’ve all been waiting for. But is there any truth to it?

While there’s no doubt that Elba would make a fantastic agent 007, at the time of writing, there has been no official announcement that he will be taking over the role. In fact, the actor has shot down the rumors multiple times in the past, and it doesn’t look like things have changed since. Every time the rumors resurface, they’re promptly shoved aside.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that Elba is pulling our leg, but it seems unlikely. The search for Daniel Craig’s replacement continues on, then, and despite Elba being a fan-favorite choice, there are plenty of other actors who could do just as good of a job.
