Johnny Depp’s questionable hygiene leaves people wondering if he’s a real-life Jack Sparrow

Is the toothpaste gone?

From Daniel Day-Lewis catching pneumonia while filming to Jared Leto’s unorthodox antics as the Joker, method acting is a fairly common Hollywood practice that continues to leave audiences absolutely speechless. Given the intensity of the acting approach, it’s often frowned upon by both industry critics and actors who swear by safer techniques. Method acting is one thing, and then there’s whatever is going on with Johnny Deep’s hygiene — an issue that even has folks wondering if he’s become the real-life Jack Sparrow.

All over Twitter, Depp’s teeth have become the center of controversy, with recent images from the Cannes Film Festival showcasing them bordering on rotten. In the collection of images, the 59-year-old actor is seen smiling, his yellow, decaying teeth on full display. Naturally, this prompted Pirates of the Caribbean fans to insist that someone needs to remind Depp that he isn’t actually Sparrow.

Based on this variety of tweets, however, the stark similarities between Depp and the beloved Pirates character are simply too hard to ignore:

As one user noted, rotten teeth shouldn’t be a problem for Depp, who is reportedly worth $150 million.

As much as Depp is transforming into a real-life Sparrow before our very eyes, it’s already been well-documented that he has little interest in returning to the franchise for a future movie, although producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been extremely vocal about how open he is to the idea.

For now, we’ll all simply sit back and wonder when exactly Depp will ditch the character and rifle through his buried treasure in search of a much-needed toothbrush. Because, let’s face it — Depp doesn’t only have a jar of dirt, but also a mouth of questionable teeth.
