Was The Joker In Deadpool 2?

Fans think they've spotted the Joker in Deadpool 2 - though without his classic purple suit, it's tough to say for sure whether it's indeed him.

Is there another superhero out there who’s able to break the fourth wall like Wade Wilson?

Ahead of the release of Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ irreverent, gun-toting mercenary has been taking jabs at Disney, Josh Brolin, Céline Dion (!) and even the DC Extended Universe. And that’s just the promotional campaign we’re talking about.

Because in the film itself, the Merc with a Mouth takes aim at a lot more, including famous celebrities, fictional characters, Fortune 500 companies, etc. In David Leitch’s sequel, everything’s fair game, including DC icons like Batman and Superman. But as it turns out, another very familiar DC Comics figure might have been included as well.

During the second act of the movie, when Russell and Wade are taken to prison, we see them being walked to their cell and it’s at this point where you can spot a man with white skin and bright green hair. He may not have a purple suit on, but he certainly bears a striking resemblance to the Joker. And though he’s never addressed as such, it’s hard to think this was just pure coincidence.

In all likelihood, it’s the filmmakers’ way of throwing in an easter egg for fans of the Clown Prince of Crime to spot and not having to get into all the copyright issues that would go along with actually calling him the Joker. After all, we imagine they had a tough enough time as it is sneaking all those Batman jokes into the movie.

Deadpool 2 is now playing in theaters everywhere and already cleaning up at the box office. Analysts expect it to finish around $132 million domestically come Monday morning but with all the positive word of mouth, that could reach $140-$150 million. As always, watch this space for more.
