Avengers Endgame Trailer

Next Avengers: Endgame Trailer May Arrive During Super Bowl

The run-up to the release of the first Avengers: Endgame trailer last month was excruciating. Every industry insider had their own scoop on when the promo would land and most of them were dead wrong (to be fair, my predictions were also a bit off). By the time of the day of release, fans were tired of articles theorizing when it would debut and journalists were tired of writing speculative articles about what might be in it. With all that in mind, here's when I think the next Endgame trailer will land.

Disney and Marvel Studios’ marketing plans for the film appear to be aping that of Infinity WarThis makes a good deal of sense, too. After all, the hype for that movie was expertly managed and the finished product went on to rake in a colossal $2 billion at the worldwide box office. With Endgame essentially being part two of the story, there’s a sense that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Supporting this line of thinking is that the pic releases almost a year to the day from Infinity War (and the first Endgame trailer also landed roughly a year on from the first Infinity War trailer).

If this pattern holds, then we should be keeping a close eye on the Super Bowl on February 3rd. There was a 30 second Infinity War commercial that aired during the game last year, which proved a massive hit and racked up the most social media buzz of any commercial during that Super Bowl. If I were Disney, I’d be wanting to replicate that success. Adding credence to this prediction is the recent release of the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, which landed in roughly the same window as the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp did last year.

Beyond that, though, we’re also hearing that ABC wants to use several MCU stars as rotating hosts of the 2019 Oscars, which might be a hint that we’ll get a further peek at Endgame at some point during the ceremony instead. With the Oscars being met with gently flagging ratings year over year, what better way to drum up some interest than to drop a trailer for the most highly anticipated movie of the 2019 during the show?

Either way, it’s sure to be here soon and once we have the date for the next Avengers: Endgame preview, we’ll definitely let you know.
