Nato And Remy’s Last Stand: 8 Family Friendly Horror Movies!

Since a child's mind exists at its most impressionable stage, what better time to start your son or daughter on a path to horror fandom? No, I'm not suggesting you subject your offspring to terrifying endeavors like The Exorcist or Child's Play right off the bat (unless you want to deal with those emotional scars the rest of their lives), but I AM encouraging horror loving parents to pass on the gift of spook. Get 'em while they're young, while their minds can still be molded and shaped to accept everything the horror genre has to offer, and then let them adventure off down their own twisted cinematic paths. Or just disown them when they run away screaming.

I have a secret motive fuelling this underrated film’s selection. First of all, I also have a soft spot for CG films, much like my bromigo. Although Frankenweenie almost made the list, I already used Tim Burton once, and Matt already snagged a dope stop motion film in ParaNorman, so I didn’t want any of this to sound like a retread. The reason I went with Monster House is because I am a groupie of the man who wrote it – a fellow by the name of Dan Harmon, who you may know created Community and helped create the Adult Swim masterpiece, Rick and Morty.

Harmon’s pop culture obsessed references and joke-a-minute style are very much alive in this CG movie about a house that is an actual monster. The concept may be a bit over-the top, and it may seem a bit mild compared to some of the other films on the list, but if you sit down to watch this movie with your whole family, every single one of you will find something to enjoy.

I, for one, related to the fat kid. Take from that what you will.

Oh and by the way, six seasons and a movie – do the right thing, Netflix.

Which horror movies do you remember watching as a child, bringing your whole horror-loving family together? Sound off below!
