Nato And Remy’s Last Stand: New Year, New Resolutions

In 2013, we're both making resolutions and sticking to them. No more years of writing off resolutions two weeks in. No more idling. No more "seeing where the wind takes us." If you want something done, do it yourself. But also, we just wanted to let you guys in for a second, getting all personal so you can actually get a sense of who Remy and I are, instead of just reading some text a computer seemingly spat out every week. We're people, we swear. Come with us, we'll explain...

Nato’s 2013 Resolutions

Resolution One: Watch More Horror Movies

Ok, I’m going in the opposite direction as Remy since he wants to watch more shitty Gerard Butler romantic comedies or some pussy stuff, but I want to focus even more on the horror genre. Last year alone I powered out about 50 horror reviews alone between We Got This Covered and my own blog, but now since I’m full time WGTC, I seriously want to cover every last horror flick released in 2013. I want to make 2013 horror my proverbial bitch, bringing a dense sense of knowledge to every article I write this year. It will definitely be a challenge and won’t always be fun, see my reviews for Texas Chainsaw 3D and A Haunted House as examples already, but as I keep saying – for the love of the game.

Resolution Two: Network, You Idiot

I’m so caught up right now with working, writing, trying to have a social life, balancing my alcoholism, watching mind-numbing horror films – you get the picture – that everything seems to blur together and I don’t really get a chance to take all this awesomeness in and get a little chatty. I’m always squeezing something in or having to catch a bus, usually turning me into a ghost after an event is over. Well, no more. 2013 is the time I really make the best of my situations and make some connections. I mean I have in the past, Remy and I weren’t childhood friends or anything, but it’s time to get next level and make those connections like a boss.

Resolution Three: Hang Out With Remy

How do I say this and not be creepy? Well, no way really, so screw it. Who else do you want to sit down and have a beer with other than your psychotic counter part? The only person who can go off on a tangent about which Christmas horror Santa is the most badass and keep up with you, the only dude who makes me look like a saint, and the only son of a bitch who can tolerate my horror geek obsession. It’s on dude. Me, you, beer, brotime – it’s on.

Resolution Four: Write Some Things My “Normal” Friends And Family Will Read

Listen, I understand half (errr…most) these articles are batshit crazy. I don’t blame my “normal” friends for not reading articles like “Who Would You Pick For You Zombie Apocalypse Team” or “Which Of These Horror Characters Deserved To Die,” but it would be nice to give them something to read too. I doubt half the people I interact with even know I’m a writer, ignoring every post I throw up on social media. Understand though, I’m not bitching. No hard feelings. I write very niche articles, but it’s time for everyone to get a sense of my writing. It’s always moving when my Grandma says she’s read the first paragraph of one of my reviews for a movie like Juan Of The Dead, but I want to give someone like her an entire article she’d love to get through. The fact that she can even look at her innocent little grandson after reading even a simple intro to one of my articles is astounding, and the love I give her for supporting me like that I can’t even explain. I’m writing one for you this year Grandma/Parents/Non-Horror-Friends!

Resolution Five: Make Time For The People Who Got Me Here

It wasn’t easy, writing for my own blog which generated next to no hits or recognition, but it was all just practice, and a few people saw that. When I would mention things about just stopping and focusing on other pastimes,  they wouldn’t let me. They saw the passion for cinema burning inside me, keeping me going during even the more mundane of times, and supported me every step of the way. Every once and a while I’d get a few select friends mention something I wrote, or saying they totally agreed with an argument, and I’d just feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Those are the people that helped me get where I am right now, having a blast getting reviews on RottenTomatoes, interviewing awesome celebrities, getting advanced screens of flicks I love – oh, and We Got This Covered might have something to do with that too? But anyway, I like to think I’m giving WGTC my all, and will continue to bring my own hard-working brand of insanity every week, but I also want to make time and stop neglecting those awesome people that have made all this worth it. Hell, I bet some people think I’ve just dropped off the face of the Earth, but in reality I’ve just been treading water, trying to stay afloat in this crazy life, and in 2013 I sincerely want to change that. Someone is getting hugged. Bad.

So what about you guys? I know our resolutions were more writer centric, but what are you doing for yourself in 2013?!

*A special thanks to Remy for stepping in to guest write! Feel free to follow either of us on Twitter for even more insanity and updates:
