Thankfully, things began to shift in our favor, first with an international release, and then with the knowledge that the much anticipated horror flick will be made available for a limited time via Google Play starting on October 12. Upon hearing that, we decided to file that tidbit under “better than nothing.”

Well, as it turns out, more good news has since come down, as we’re now learning that Dimension Films will be rolling out Amityville: The Awakening in select theaters on October 28, so those of you looking for a proper moviegoing experience aren’t being left out. Not only that, but the film will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand on November 14, courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment – and with a featurette dubbed “The Making of Amityville: The Awakening,” no less.

Something else worth discussing is that Bloody Disgusting has debuted a new trailer for the film (seen at the top) that just so happens to lay out how this particular offering connects to the 1979 classic, The Amityville Horror. Now, we don’t mean to get ahead of ourselves, but the footage provided implies that the multitude of sequels separating Amityville: The Awakening from its ancestor are being disregarded. Still, it’s awesome to see some visual effects that make this writer recall Silent Hill, a franchise near and dear to me.

Give it a watch up above and be sure to check out the film when it arrives next month!
