‘Superman: Legacy’ casting may be ramping up and only one name is on everyone’s lips

One actor seems to stand out the most.

With only two years remaining until Superman: Legacy arrives in theaters, there is speculation that this upcoming DC film will soon enter production. If that’s the case, one actor out of all the rumored castings sticks out more tham most for the fan-favorite to don the red cape next.

Twitter user @caiden_reed sparked the rumor that screen tests for Superman: Legacy will start sometime either this or next week. DC’s co-chief Gunn has noted in the past that he’d been working on this Superman project for six months, before it was announced that Henry Cavill was no longer going to play the role.

If these rumors are true, who will be DC’s next Man of Steel? Neither DC Studios nor Warner Bros Discovery have made any official announcement, and Gunn told eager fans on Twitter that he wouldn’t be commenting on who auditioned for the role. That said, however, there is one actor that has lingered in fans’ minds as the perfect fit for the role.

Hopes that David Corenswet will be the next Superman have ramped up to full speed, with many hoping that Gunn will consider him for the role. This actor has been mentioned numerous times on social media, to the point where they managed to form a perfect casting lineup for Lex Luthor and Lois Lane in the upcoming reboot.

What makes this actor the perfect candidate is that he’s a young and emerging actor, something that fits the bill that Gunn has described when commenting about potential cast members. Having appeared in House of Cards and Elementary, he’s also plenty experienced. He also had leading roles in The Politician and We Own This City. However, not everyone is all that chuffed for the actor to take on the role because he looks too similar to Henry Cavill.

At the moment, Gunn hasn’t given any new updates for the upcoming DC film and has urged fans in the past to not believe in rumors or speculation that don’t come from him. But with fans getting excited about this pre-production rumor, fingers are firmly crossed that an update will be announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2023.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release sometime in 2025.
