‘Demon Slayer’ lands in the Netflix Top 10 with its epic new season

'Demon Slayer' season three predictably lands on Netflix's Global Top 10 after its addition just over a week ago.

The third season of Demon Slayer landed on Netflix recently and has already secured itself on the streaming platform’s Global Top 10. Having become one of the biggest anime exports from Japan in the last few years, Demon Slayer has a huge fanbase across the world. Fans were thrilled then when the third season finally dropped and the figures back that up.

The third season of Demon Slayer adapts the Swordsmith Village Arc and comes in at only 11 episodes long, much shorter than the first and second seasons which boast 26 and 18 episodes respectively. Fans have had to wait for over a year to get this third season, with its predecessor releasing in the winter of 2021/2022 (which boasted two arcs — the Mugen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc), though it only just came to Netflix in January of this year.

The latest season has found itself gracing the Netflix Global Top 10 list when looking at viewing figures from June 19 – 25. Within that time it has been viewed a total of 7.1 million hours and had roughly 1.3 million views, landing it in seventh place behind Korean drama See You In My 19th Life and ahead of another Korean drama, Lies Hidden In My Garden.

Demon Slayer has dominated most anime charts since it arrived in 2019, with its 2020 movie, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train shattering records, and even knocking the Ghibli classic Spirited Away off its throne as the highest-grossing anime film worldwide, bringing in $440.15 million. Now it begins its third season reign on the likes of Netflix and Crunchyroll, with the latter platform crashing due to the sheer volume of people logging in to watch the season finale, and it would seem like a fourth season is also already in the works and will be titled the Hashira Training Arc.

You can watch Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc on both Netflix and Crunchyroll.
