Florida woman accused of SA’ing an underage boy she met at a funeral

Ayla Gonzalez Salinas, a West Palm Beach, Florida woman, is accused of sexually abusing an underage boy she met at a funeral. Authorities have not disclosed the boy’s age, but based on Salinas’ charges, he was between 12 and 16 years old.

According to a West Palm Beach news outlet, CBS 12, Gonzalez Salinas met the boy at a funeral in November 2024. Gonzalez Salinas contacted the boy on social media, and Salinas and the boy engaged in sexual activity several times the next month. It’s unclear how authorities were alerted to the abuse.

Gonzalez Salinas and the boy discussed getting their “story straight”

After Gonzalez Salinas’ arrest, police recovered text messages between Salinas and the boy discussing that they needed to “get their ‘story’ straight,” about what happened. Salinas and the boy reportedly agreed to say he initiated the sexual abuse, and to lie about how many times they met.

Florida police arrested Gonzalez Salinas on Monday, April 28, 2025, and charged her with seven felony counts of lewd or lascivious behavior, specifically lewd or lascivious battery of a victim aged 12 to 16.

Gonzalez Salinas reportedly posted bond two days later. It’s unclear when she’s expected to appear in court, or what she might plead.

Florida’s “Romeo and Juliet” exception

One social media comment pointed out, “Speaking strictly from a legal (not moral) perspective, the boy’s age makes a huge difference because the age of consent in Florida is 16 and the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ exception allows for relations between 16 and up to [23 years old].

The comment added, “If he’s under 16, then all bets are off, and again, I’m speaking from a legal perspective and thus not trying to justify or condone her behavior.”

According to the Florida statute, the “Romeo and Juliet” exception allows a person aged 18 to 23 to petition the court to avoid being registered as a sex offender if they were convicted of a sex crime involving a minor aged 16 or 17, and the sexual activity was consensual.
