Woman says her husband gave her craft room to his mom, told her ‘you’ll figure something out.’ So, she decides to make him ‘figure something out’

She figured it out.

A couple’s argument over one spare room has reportedly spread to the basement. A woman said she moved her entire sewing operation into her husband’s game room after he gave his mother her craft room without asking her first, according to a Reddit post by u/Maximum-Outcome-1846 in r/AITApod. She claimed she only found out about the plan at dinner that night.

Her mother-in-law was reportedly set to have knee replacement surgery and expected to stay with the couple for six weeks afterward. The craft room sits off the kitchen next to the downstairs bathroom, which she acknowledged makes it practical for someone recovering. However, she said the craft room also holds everything she needs for her seasonal sewing business.

The wife claimed she has 20 orders for Christmas stockings this year, the most she has ever had. As the couple is hosting Thanksgiving, the kitchen table was apparently not an option for her projects. Her husband allegedly dismissed her concerns by telling her, “you’ll figure something out, it’s only until after Thanksgiving.”

She says she figured something out, and he apparently hates it

The husband reportedly spends Tuesday nights in the basement playing games online with his college friends. According to the Redditor, his mother cannot manage the stairs with a new knee; the basement was never an option for her to stay in. However, it also holds the only other large table in the house, according to the woman.

She said she cleared out the craft room while her husband was at his brother’s place helping him move a couch. She claimed she put her cutting table where his recliner used to sit, as that is where the outlet is. The recliner reportedly now sits in a corner by the dartboard.

When he got home, the husband allegedly asked where he was supposed to go. She said she told him he would figure something out, as it was only until after Thanksgiving. However, he reportedly argued that his mother actually needs the craft room, which changed the situation, and accused her of being petty.

He also apparently complained that her serger is “really loud on the headset” and asked whether it could stay off on Tuesday nights while he plays. A serger is an overlock machine typically used to finish seams, so keeping it off could likely slow her stocking orders.

Most commenters under the post appear to have sided with the wife. One user argued that the husband made a unilateral decision and noted that she needs the space for income while he wants it to relax. Another user wrote, “you’ve got 20 paid orders to finish and he’s worried about his tuesday game night? come on.”

Others pointed out that customers are reportedly counting on finished stockings before Christmas. Missed deadlines on custom orders can quickly sour buyers, as one Texas mom said after her baker went silent before pickup. One commenter suggested he could take his gaming setup to his mother’s house instead.

Another user wrote, “Proud of you for figuring something out and taking action!” The same user suggested he could take on chores so she could keep the serger quiet on Tuesdays. His reaction appears to differ from one TikTok creator’s husband, who she said ran a secret crochet photo account for her handmade animals.
