A woman has taken to TikTok to call out a “male-centered Walmart cashier” after she allegedly tried to embarrass her by intentionally drawing attention to the product she was buying. The woman was purchasing a box of disposable period underwear but claims that the cashier tried to shame her for her purchase in front of another male customer.
Florida TikToker, Kiara, shared the story with her followers, claiming that “older women can be so male-centered.” She said that the incident occurred while she was shopping in Walmart, and asked her viewers to share their thoughts on the matter. She explained that there are a lot of elderly people in her area, so there are still a lot of human cashiers.
“The self-checkout line is through the roof, but the cashier lines are very short,” she claimed. As she only had a few items, she decided to avoid the self-checkout and go straight to a cashier. While everything about the interaction was normal at first, she accused the cashier of trying to embarrass her for buying period pants after a male customer queued up behind her.
The box of period pants was almost in the bag, but according to Kiara, “When the man walks up… she takes it out of the bag and she like puts it on the top of the little carousel.” She also claims that the cashier intentionally slammed the box as if she were trying to make buying the hygiene product as awkward as possible.
Kiara wasn’t embarrassed
Despite what she believed to be a deliberate attempt to shame her, Kiara claimed that she wasn’t embarrassed by the cashier. “They’re diapers, ok,” she admitted, “I don’t care. I am somebody who is not ashamed or embarrassed about buying feminine hygiene products.” She claims that the man behind her didn’t care either.
Kiara claimed that the cashier was “clearly trying to draw attention to my period panties,” accusing the other woman of slamming the box on the counter. However, Kiara claims she wasn’t going to give the cashier a reaction; “after, you know, she saw that I had no reaction, she puts it back in the same bag that she took it out of.”
Viewers agreed with Kiara, claiming that the cashier was “weird,” but adding that she “carried like a queen.” Many others thanked her for drawing their attention to comfortable feminine hygiene products that they weren’t even aware of. “I did not know these existed and I need them! So thank you!” wrote one grateful viewer.
