The landlord had the Los Angeles Police Department board up the windows and doors, changed the locks, turn off the power and toss her belongings outside while she was visiting her mother on Mother's Day. The lockout came after Dee refused to lift a restraining order for domestic violence by Erik Hines, the son of her landlord, Charles Hines, according to Dee. The city has recently passed the right for tenants to sue landlords who violate restrictions that Los Angeles has placed on evicting renters during the coronavirus crisis.
