Woman’s fiance breaks up with her in a park after making her wait 3 days. She had bridesmaids picked out and everything: ‘right before I turned 30?’

A woman says she went from planning her wedding to waiting three days for an answer after her fiancé unexpectedly asked for “a break.”

In a video posted to TikTok, Jordan Agajanian said the situation began when her fiancé came home and said he wanted to talk. Earlier that day, she said she noticed through his shared location that he had spent time at a park with a friend, something she found unusual. When he arrived home, she recalled asking, “Are you breaking up with me?” She said he paused before replying, “I think I want a break, like, right now. Can you leave?”

Instead of immediately ending the relationship, she said he asked for space, leaving her to pack a bag, leave the home they shared and spend the next three days staying with a friend in Studio City. During that time, she said she avoided contacting him because she had no idea what would happen next.

“I did not talk to this person at all. I did not talk to him. I did not reach out to him. I did not do anything,” she said, explaining that she instead threw herself into work, asking her manager at Free People to schedule her for as many shifts as possible because she “simply cannot… just sit in my bed and… be sad.”

The uncertainty before the final conversation

The uncertainty was especially difficult, she said, because the couple had already begun planning their wedding. Agajanian described working through venue choices, revising guest lists and choosing bridesmaids while expecting the ceremony to go ahead. Those plans remained in place until she received a message several days later asking if they could meet.

Once wedding plans are underway, an unexpected breakup can change far more than just the relationship. Venues, guest lists and future plans can all unravel at once, something that has surfaced in other TikTok stories about engagements that unexpectedly fell apart.

She said her former fiancé initially suggested meeting at her parents’ house, but she asked to meet somewhere neutral instead. The conversation ultimately took place in a park, where she said he officially ended the engagement after the three-day wait.

Agajanian chose not to publicly explain his reasons in detail, telling viewers there were “two sides of the story” and acknowledging she had reflected on her own role in the relationship. That restraint set her video apart from many viral breakup stories, where former partners often become the focus of public criticism. One of the first questions was who would stay in the apartment.

She said her former fiancé wanted to remain in their apartment, leaving her to move back in with her parents just before turning 30.

“Did I think I was gonna be living with my parents ever again right before I turned 30? Dude, absolutely not,” she said.

At the time, she said she was already in debt, had recently started her own business and was still working retail to make ends meet. She used roughly $150 in IKEA gift cards to buy basic furniture for her room before returning to work just days later. She also told clients she would not charge them for January while she got settled, asking only for enough time to complete the move.

Many viewers said the timing, while painful, may have spared both people a more complicated separation later. One popular comment read, “on the bright side, it was a breakup and not a divorce.“ Another wrote, “Thank goodness it was befffffore the wedding.” Others, however, were more interested in the practical questions surrounding the breakup.

Other commenters debated the logistics of the separation. “If you end the relationship, you leave the apartment. That should be the rule unless mutually agreed upon!” one viewer argued, while another commented, “If he asks for a break….it’s a breakup don’t drag it out.” 

While Agajanian acknowledged that staying busy did not eliminate the grief, she said rebuilding a routine helped her navigate the immediate aftermath. She ended the video by encouraging others going through similar experiences to take recovery one day at a time, telling viewers, “You can feel sad and still live your life. The feelings will pass. You will process them.”
