Bonus Features For Sherlock Season 4 Blu-Ray Revealed

Though season 4 of Sherlock wasn't exactly the show's strongest outing, given the fact that it may be the last time we see Benedict Cumberbatch bringing the titular detective to life, it's understandable that people would want to re-visit it now that it's over. Though season 4 of Sherlock wasn’t exactly the show’s strongest outing, given the fact that it may be the last time we see Benedict Cumberbatch bringing the titular detective to life, it’s understandable that people would want to re-visit it now that it’s over. Thankfully, they’ll get the chance to do just that on January 24th, when it arrives on Blu-ray and DVD.

As is always the case, it won’t only be the season’s three episodes that you’ll get if you decide to pick it up, as the BBC has announced today that there will also be a couple of special features included on the disc, too. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot here – at least, not as much as we expected – but it’s better than nothing.

Here’s the list of extras that have been announced so far:

“Behind 221B,” a 20-minute making-of for each episode

“The Writer’s Chat,” a look at the process behind writing the series with Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

Mark Gatiss’s video diaries

So, there’s really nothing too substantial included then, which is somewhat surprising given that this could very well be Sherlock‘s last season. Of course, that hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but it certainly looks likely. Not only is Benedict Cumberbatch becoming increasingly busy with his commitments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but apparently he’s not too friendly with co-star Martin Freeman and neither actor is terribly interested in continuing on.

What ultimately happens with Sherlock remains to be seen, and we probably won’t get a firm answer one way or another for a while, but if you’re itching for more of the iconic character and his buddy John Watson, you’ll definitely want to pick up season 4 on Blu-ray/DVD later this month.
