Spartacus Star Liam McIntyre Joins The Flash As Weather Wizard

It seems that many actors who once starred on Starz' Spartacus series are destined to don a cape, cowl or supervillain moniker and head to the CW. Arrow has employed several actors from the series, including Manu Bennett as Deathstroke, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller, Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul and Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang. Now, Arrow's sister series The Flash is upping the ante by casting Spartacus himself, Liam McIntyre.

It seems that many actors who once starred on Starz’ Spartacus series are destined to don a cape, cowl or supervillain moniker and head to the CW. So far, Arrow has employed several actors from the series, including Manu Bennett as Deathstroke, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller, Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul and Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang. Now, Arrow‘s sister series, The Flash is upping the ante by casting Spartacus himself, Liam McIntyre.

Mcintyre will appear in the 15th and 16th episodes of the series’ first season as Mark Mardon, the Weather Wizard. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, considering we’ve already seen Mardon’s brother Clint on the series, played by Chad Rook in the pilot episode. As it turns out, Clint’s fate was less ambiguous than we initially thought, and his brother is heading to Central City to cook up a storm of his own. Literally.

The appearance of the real Weather Wizard marks yet another addition to the Rogues, a team of Flash villains who unite to take down the scarlet speedster. We’ve already seen Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and a glimpse of Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), and know that Golden Glider (Peyton List) and the Trickster (Mark Hamill!) are on the way as well. Now that Weather Wizard’s been cast, it’s only a matter of time before we see Barry Allen take on the whole gang.

Tell us, are you happy to hear that Liam McIntyre will play Weather Wizard on The Flash? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

The Flash airs on the CW on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. It will return from its winter hiatus on January 20th.
