Arrow Showrunner Teases Black Siren’s Future In Season 7

Heading into Arrow's seventh season, one thing that I'm personally looking forward to seeing is anything having to do with Black Siren. So far, Earth-2's Laurel Lance has been accompanied by much intrigue wherever she goes. Whether it was her debut near the end of The Flash season 2, or what she brought to the table in the two years to follow on Arrow, scenes involving this doppelganger have made for good television more often than not.

So, now that it appears she’ll be walking a more heroic path when the saga resumes, it should be exciting to see actress Katie Cassidy exploring the character from yet another angle. From the sound of it, new showrunner Beth Schwartz shares my sentiments, and had the following to tease while speaking with Cinema Blend at San Diego Comic-Con:

“So, I love Black Siren. She is so fun. What we loved about Katie and the character from last year is that you never really know which side she’s on. Is she good? Is she bad? She falls somewhere in between. And so this year, with Lance’s death — which was really sad, I’m still not over it — she has a lot. You know, she’s pissed. She’s pissed at Diaz, so she has a grudge. And so we’re gonna see her dealing with that. . . . Yeah, she’s gonna play between good and bad again, and we’re gonna see how that affects her when she wants to get revenge for Lance’s death.”

In addition to that, it should be fun to see how Laurel’s complicated relationship (yes, that’s putting it mildly) with the new Black Canary, Dinah Drake, turns out. Speaking of which, Juliana Harkavy touched on that very subject at the same event, saying:

“It [their last encounter] was intense, and I think that relationship and that dynamic is evolving in a very cool way. You know, they are still definitely at odds, but yeah, there is going to be a shift there, for sure. Actually, some of my favorite writing this season has been the stuff between Dinah and Laurel.”

Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW. In the meantime, be sure to keep it tuned to We Got This Covered for more news regarding these characters and your other favorites.
