Just as some PC gamers could never imagine using a controller for a first-person shooter, many fans of fighting games couldn't imagine opting for a controller over an arcade stick. Those types of fighting game fans will certainly be drawn to the Razer Atrox, a sleek new arcade stick for the Xbox One that Razer revealed at EvO 2014.
Just a year ago, MMO Firefall looked to be on the verge of collapse - PvP was suspended, the Jetball PvP mode was attracting lower than 3% of the player base, and the game’s developer, Red 5 Studios, voted out CEO Mark Kern. Suffice it to say, the MMO's future looked relatively bleak. Until now.
Mortal Kombat fans have been excited about the series' newest installment, Mortal Kombat X, since its trailer was revealed in early June. Last summer, Syfy's Sharknado became a full-blown cultural phenomenon. Although absurdly silly in plot – it’s based around a waterspout that lifts sharks out of the ocean and into Los Angeles – the made-for-TV movie provided the sort of mindless popcorn-munching fun that many seek out during the summer months. The success of Sharknado prompted the Syfy Channel to create Sharknado 2, which will premiere on July 30th. But even that wasn’t enough; not only does Sharknado have a sequel in the near future, but a video game as well.
Another public beta is in the cards for EA’s Battlefield Hardline and it is said to be slated for sometime in early fall, in advance of the game’s scheduled October 21st release date. That premise sounds great on its own, but it's made even better by the fact that the game’s plot was written by acclaimed writer Neil Gaiman, author of the The Sandman comics and novels Stardust, American Gods and Coraline.
Sometimes the news of a video game release originates from an unlikely source. This is certainly the case with idiosyncratic adventure title Stick It to the Man, which the Pan European Game Information group revealed is being released on Microsoft's Xbox One.
