I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Marvel Studios will surely be feeling the pressure on Black Panther 2. In the wake of Chadwick Boseman's untimely death, the first film has become a symbol of his talents and featured heavily in subsequent memorials. So, how can they tastefully address his absence in the upcoming sequel? Well, current indications are that the studio isn't going to recast the role and will instead tell the story of his younger sister Shuri taking on the mantle, with T'Challa having died in the period between movies.
Resident Evil fans have had a good few weeks. Netflix unveiled the in-canon CG show Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and the reboot of the live-action movie franchise announced its cast. Director Johannes Roberts also went out of his way to assure us that his plan is to closely adapt the plot of the games. That's nice to know, as the last Resident Evil film series diverged so far from the source material that by the end, it had very little in common with the story we were all familiar with.
2020 has been a real barrel of laughs so far and now we can add "Murder Hornets" to the list of problems. Also known as Giant Asian Hornets, these have been spotted in Washington State and scientists are warning that trouble is on the way. According to AP, scientists have discovered six of the hornets near the town of Blaine in Whatcom County, where scared residents have been calling in sightings of the monster insects.
The Flash has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CW shut down production in March 2020, causing the show to wrap up its sixth season with 19 rather than 22 episodes. This meant some quick rewrites in order to make the nineteenth installment work as a big finale, though in my opinion, it actually turned out pretty well. After that enforced break, the seventh season then began shooting at the beginning of October, only for it to be put on hiatus almost immediately after a delay in receiving the results of COVID-19 tests.
I've always had a soft spot for Star Trek: Voyager. Sure, it wasn't as iconic as The Next Generation and nobody is going to argue that it was as smart as Deep Space Nine, but what it lacked in some areas it made up for in others by being extremely weird. Voyager episodes have included an Irish village in the holodeck becoming sentient and attempting to burn the crew at the stake for being witches, their holographic doctor's daydreams attracting the attention of an alien race, an entire civilization evolving in real time before the crew's eyes and... well, whatever was going on in "Threshold."
