One huge reason why I believe the Ghostbusters reboot from a few years back didn't catch on is that is was quite different from some do-overs of the sort. When it comes to film franchises pertaining to characters like Batman and James Bond, we just expect for new lead actors to take over at some point or another. But in the case of Ghostbusters, those were original characters played by specific actors, so moviegoers understandably became attached to those guys.
Even with the fall TV season almost upon us, there are still a few DC TV home video releases to discuss. As of today, Supergirl: The Complete Fourth Season is finally available for purchase on Blu-ray, and we're here to go over the finer points.
As one would expect, Arrow will go out in style by bringing back a host of fan favorites over the course of its eighth and final season. Right off the bat, we know that Josh Segarra and Colin Donnell will return as Adrian Chase and Tommy Merlyn, respectively, and Rila Fukushima will slip back into the role of Katana shortly thereafter.
Considering how not much time has passed since the majesty that was 2018's Halloween thrilled audiences, it still hasn't entirely set in for this writer that the followup is already moving forward so quickly. Even so, there are no complaints here because I feel the franchise is safe in the capable hands of David Gordon Green.
Whenever any TV series is cancelled, it's usually the lead actor who speaks up first in order to reflect on their time spent on the relevant show. In the case of Arrow, Stephen Amell wasted little time before giving an emotional speech online and fighting back tears. And who could blame him? The DC Comics-based series did make him a household name, after all.
Considering how the Halloween film franchise has surpassed double digits when it comes to racking up sequels, it's actually somewhat amazing to think not many actors have played Michael Myers on more than one occasion. Nick Castle, often referred to as "the O.G. Shape," has done so though, with Tyler Mane being another notable actor to have also accomplished that feat.
When it comes to a film franchise as enduring and expansive as Halloween, I'm sure we all have our own favorite installments. Strangely enough, the series has adopted a "choose your own adventure" model, as the timeline has branched in so many different directions over the years.
For the past few years, DC Comics have celebrated Batman Day in style. Basically, this event was first established to observe the character's 75th anniversary back in 2014, before it became a recurring thing on an annual basis. And now that the Dark Knight's 80th anniversary is upon us, it's only appropriate that the publisher up the ante.
Whenever a new year approaches, I normally have a clear idea of which superhero movie will be my most anticipated. In the case of 2020, I'd like to say it's Birds of Prey, yet I'm internally conflicted.
This past Saturday, I was counted among the many who made their way to MBT Expo Center for the latest extravaganza put on by The Monroe Pop Fest (formerly Monroe Comic-Con). Even though I'm no stranger to covering events in the state of Michigan, this was actually only my second time attending this particular one. I was able to stay for only a fraction of the day on the previous occasion, so I was doubly excited knowing I would be hanging around for the entire day this time.
