Even though we have the unfortunate situation that is the Friday the 13th film franchise being left in a state of legal limbo to deal with, fans of Jason Voorhees have at least had something to enjoy in recent memory. Thanks to a seriously bloody video game, one of horror's greatest icons has been resurrected in an immersive experience, with new maps and scenarios being added on a regular basis.
As awesome as the first two episodes of Black Lightning were, we can't wait to see where the series goes in the next few weeks now that we've gotten the world building out of the way and can truly get to the meat of the story. And even though the drama and the social commentary have been but a few things that have gotten us hooked, we're looking forward to seeing more superhero action because Jefferson Pierce has shown us on a couple of occasions already that he's capable of entering a building and kicking the crap out of everybody, much like the Green Arrow.
Now that production on Blumhouse’s Halloween sequel is finally underway, we expect news regarding the next entry in the enduring horror franchise to trickle in on a regular basis. And even though the latest treat is not a casting announcement or something that hearkens back to familiar locations, it’s pretty exciting nonetheless.
Even though the Justice League movie is set to release on Blu-ray in a couple of months, fans of DC's premier superhero team have much, much more to look forward to in 2018. Long story short, expect the landscape of the DC Universe to change not long after Dark Nights: Metal concludes on March 14.
Odds are that you've noticed Supergirl has stepped it up when it comes to the drama this season, playing up Kara and Alex's sisterly relationship, in addition to the former's complicated situation with Mon-El that we'll get into shortly. To be honest, it's probably to help alleviate the budget a bit because season 2 did get quite ambitious with all of its sci-fi action.
To say that Gotham has utilized a healthy amount of Batman’s rogues gallery is an understatement. Heck, we’ve seen everyone from the Penguin and the Riddler to Professor Pyg and Flamingo throughout the course of its four seasons. But, as is to be expected, it’s the ones who are more well known among the mainstream that most often put in recurring appearances.
Aside from the fact that I've really been enjoying the current season of Gotham, there were a couple of things that helped make the midseason hiatus hard to endure. For one, the midseason finale's cliffhanger featured the return of Jerome Valeska and, if that weren't enough, we weren't even given a date for when to expect the show to be back on our screens! To be honest, I feared it wouldn't resume until April, as was the case last year.
With the DC Extended Universe currently being in a state of repair, there are many fans - myself included - who are holding out hope that Man of Steel 2 will one day come to fruition. Yes, Superman has appeared in two team-up flicks since his last solo film hit theaters in 2013, but Henry Cavill is more than deserving of a proper followup. In other words, it's time that he receive The Dark Knight to his Batman Begins, if you catch my drift.
Although we have Arrow to thank for the shared DC TV universe that we enjoy seeing each week on The CW, it's done quite the fine job of establishing its own population of heroes and villains within the borders of Star City. Of course, with it being in the midst of its sixth season, there have been a myriad of characters to fall in love with, but some have understandably resonated with viewers more than others.
