Now that it feels like we're finally within reaching distance of Justice League's theatrical release, it's about that time for various forms of memorabilia to start flooding stores. Whether it be action figures, premium collectibles, coffee mugs or beach towels, odds are there'll be something for everybody sporting DC's premier team of superheroes, no matter what their price range may be.
These days, it seems like there's no stopping Wonder Woman, as the Amazon Princess' first solo outing on the big screen has managed to add yet another accomplishment to its ever-growing list. While previous entries in the DC Extended Universe proved to be divisive amongst both critics and moviegoers, Patty Jenkins' masterpiece seems to have united everybody with its great character work and breathtaking action scenes - and deservedly so.
Right now, it's not entirely clear as to whom the big bad(s) for Legends of Tomorrow season 3 might be, but we do know that the Waverider crew are going to need to have some flesh and blood antagonists to battle when they're not repairing time. Previously, Vandal Savage gave the team headaches in season 1, with the Legion of Doom - the Reverse-Flash, Captain Cold, Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk - following his act in season 2.
So far, The Flash has brought in no shortage of speedsters aside from Barry Allen, both good and evil. Not counting any larger crossovers with the rest of the Arrowverse, the show can also lay claim to having introduced characters with other powers and skill sets who have made their mark, namely Vibe, Killer Frost, Gypsy, Firestorm and Captain Cold.
Even though The Flash has continually dazzled us by never shying away from its source material or wholeheartedly embracing the science fiction genre, I doubt many would argue with me saying a sort of complacency has set in. In other words, despite there being more evil speedsters to pluck from the comic books, we certainly don't need to see another one anytime soon.
Knowing that everyone would have their attention turned toward whatever Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios had in store for us at San Diego Comic-Con, it made sense that Fox dropped quite the bombshell one day prior to said Hall H presentations by revealing that a Doctor Doom movie is being planned. Granted, the studio has thrice failed at adapting one of Marvel's greatest villains, but maybe with the right filmmaker helming yet another reboot, gold can be struck. After all, the Latverian has enough rich history behind him that a solo endeavor just might work.
With just weeks to go until the release of the next DC animated movie, Batman and Harley Quinn, you could say that dropping a prequel comic couldn't have come at a more opportune time. Sure, the publisher could've put just anybody on this project hoping to cash in on the name value of the co-headliners, but the aptly titled Harley Quinn and Batman is so much more.
It's probably safe to say that most of us may be anticipating the return of Arrow more than that of its other DC TV brethren, simply due to the fact that season 5's finale left us wondering who exactly survived the blast that closed out Prometheus' deadly game.
If enduring Gotham's summer hiatus has been especially hard for you, then know that some of the news we're discussing today should please you. You're still going to have to wait a while for season 4 to premiere, but Fox has decided to move the Batman prequel series' returning episode up by one week. In other words, the next leg of Bruce Wayne's journey will now commence on Thursday, September 21 (via Coming Soon).
While people can debate the connections to Spider-Man all they want, it's best we examine the Merc with a Mouth himself as the release of Deadpool 2 creeps up on us. Normally, the qualities that spring to mind when one thinks of Wade Wilson tend to be a penchant for ultra-violence, foul language and maybe a little fourth wall breaking in the process.
