Now that the first chapter in the "Elseworlds" crossover epic is behind us, it's getting easier to imagine this going down as the Arrowverse's best mega event to date. Granted, it faces stiff competition in predecessor "Crisis on Earth-X," but there was so much fan service delivered tonight that it could make your head spin.
On the one hand, I'm ecstatic to see Warner Bros. branching out beyond the likes of Batman and Superman by finally giving Wonder Woman and Aquaman their due. But on the other, some heroes they back for prospective film adaptations leave me quite baffled.
Even though the recently released Venom movie fell well short of my expectations, I'll concede that it did have its moments. I mean, not only did the titular anti-hero look pretty badass and feature in some cool action scenes, but I can at least say his latest outing on the big screen was better than Spider-Man 3.
Believe it or not, when I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp in theaters over the summer, I enjoyed it much, much more than Avengers: Infinity War. Plus, I admired how it was able to stand on its own two legs and not be burdened as much by Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity.
As usual, we're stuck with referring to the next James Bond movie as, well, Bond 25 until Eon Entertainment reveals the official title at a press conference. Even though the online community has yet to come down after viewing new trailers for both Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios still have one more ace left up their sleeve. I say that because, as you may have heard, our first substantial look at Spider-Man: Far From Home is right around the corner.
Lately, there's been a healthy helping of Gotham content going around to assure that we tune in for the fifth and final season set to kickoff four weeks from today. In fact, the network just celebrated in style by releasing a new featurette hosted by key members of the principal cast, as they teased what's to come for their respective characters.
In the past few weeks, Fox has done a fine job of recapturing the interest of Gotham fans with a variety of promos teasing what's to come for the heroes and villains making up the insane city. If you require a few examples, feel free to look back on the one showing what Scarecrow has been up to, or take a peek at Jeremiah Valeska appearing evermore Joker-like.
Whether it be in a comic book or in a possible live action film, the mere mention of Flashpoint Batman seems to drive fans nuts these days. And who could blame them? I mean, ever since Thomas Wayne debuted as the Dark(er) Knight in Geoff Johns' game-changing miniseries back in 2011, he's amassed quite the cult following.
