It's been another busy week for Netflix, who have added a lot of fresh original content to see in February. As usual, the platform have exclusive pictures and new and returning series, as well as other family and documentary programs to keep subscribers busy. Highlights from the last several days include the Sam Levinson-directed Malcolm & Marie, Space Sweepers, drama Firefly Lane, and the third season of The Sinner. What, then, was released to the online giant from February 1st to the 7th?
Ratched, the Ryan Murphy-produced prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, has built up a decent critical and audience response since premiering on Netflix last September. Indeed, the Sarah Paulson-starring series was just nominated for a number of Golden Globes this week and now, Paulson has confirmed that new episodes are planned, albeit with a delay.
While we don't yet have a release date for the third season of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, production looks to be getting underway in Toronto. To this end, the online giant have shared a behind-the-scenes image of the new and returning cast members who make up the Sparrow Academy, the team created as the result of the Hargreeves changing the timeline of the series when travelling into the 1960s.
With four episodes aired, WandaVision has certainly raised a lot of intriguing questions about the MCU, and the powers of Wanda Maximoff going forward. The most recent instalment, "We Interrupt This Program," took a break from sitcom parody to show what's going on in the outside world, a move that has fans pretty excited. And while there've already been a lot of theories about what everything means on the series, a new one suggests that WandaVision could be hiding another Marvel villain in plain view.
The works of Stephen King continue to provide rich material for film and television adaptations, including the current remake of The Stand on CBS All Access. And although King is a prolific streamer who regularly gives his recommendations for what to watch on Netflix, the platform has also been behind some of the best adaptations of the author's publications in the last decade, including Gerald's Game, 1922, and In the Tall Grass. It now seems, though, that they're keen to develop even more projects based on his works.
The potential of The Flash for bringing together different parts of the DC multiverse means that we could see a lot of familiar faces in the movie. In recent weeks, we've heard reports that everyone from Danny DeVito to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christian Bale might end up making cameos in the timeline-hopping film. And with Michael Keaton expected to return as the Dark Knight, we could also be getting another appearance by Michelle Pfeiffer as the Batman Returns version of Catwoman.
Since being released yesterday, the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer has certainly generated excitement among fans looking forward to the monster mashup. Close examination of the footage has already revealed the possible appearance of a classic franchise character, while Kong's new weapon and powers have been explained. One of the more significant reveals from the promo, though, is how the Titan leaves Skull Island to take on Godzilla.
