It's pretty obvious that Avengers: Infinity War (regardless of whether or not that ends up being the title) is going to be a huge movie with a lot of characters, but we can now officially add Captain Marvel to the list. With the two-part film set to start shooting this November and Carol Danvers expected to be cast over the summer, we never had any doubt that she would show up here. But now, the directors of Captain America: Civil War have inadvertently confirmed it in a recent interview.
The cast of The Wolverine 3 is unique to say the least, and 20th Century Fox has so far added a mixture of recognisable names like Stephen Merchant (The Office) and Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) with lesser known faces like Eriq la Salle. All the while the studio has decided against revealing who these actors are playing, and now another mysterious addition has been made.
Everyone's attention may currently be on Captain America: Civil War, but X-Men: Apocalypse is only a few weeks away. With a rumoured budget of $250 million, 20th Century Fox has thrown a lot of money at the X-Men: Days of Future Past follow-up in the hope that it will perform as well for them as the likes of The Avengers and its sequel have done for Marvel Studios.
The CW has released the first official images from next week's episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and they feature the unexpected return of Chronos. One of the show's biggest twists came when we learned that it was Heat Wave inside that armour, but he's since been reformed, so what leads him to return to that role is hard to say.
A couple of years back, the "Honest Trailer" for Guardians of the Galaxy poked fun at the fact that Marvel Studios are so successful that they can now do whatever they please in their movies, hence why they're able to say: "F*ck you, we're Marvel Studios!" Well, proving that point is the Captain America: Civil War TV spot above which pretty much confirms that the studio can promote their releases however they damn well please!
We recently learned that the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Blu-ray will feature over two hours of special features, and thanks to an Australian retailer, we may now know what those are! A few other details about the home video release of the divisive DC Comics adaptation are known, but it's still not clear how Warner Bros. plan on handling the release of the three hour, R-Rated "Ultimate" cut. Will it be included with the normal version of the Blu-ray or is it going to be a completely separate release? More details will hopefully be revealed soon.
Captain America: Civil War is a huge movie, and one that's packed with incredible fight scenes from start to finish. None of Marvel's releases have been short on action of course, but pitting The Avengers against each other is obviously a lot different to the team, or indeed the individual heroes who make up the group, squaring off with just another bad guy.
Set to premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con before being released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 2nd (making that a good week for fans of the Clown Prince of Crime what with Suicide Squad coming on the 5th), Batman: The Killing Joke already has a lot of positive buzz surrounding it.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already pretty diverse, and it's clear that the studio is making an even greater effort to ensure that's a big part of Phase 3 with movies for characters like Black Panther and Captain Marvel. However, one thing none of their releases have as of right now are gay heroes, villains, or supporting characters.
Captain America: Civil War is poised to break a number of box office records this weekend, but the movie isn't going to have a huge amount of time to enjoy being #1 thanks to the impending release of X-Men: Apocalypse later this month. After all, X-Men: Days of Future Past exceeded expectations back in 2014, so there's a very good chance that this one will, too.
