‘Spider-Man’ fans rejoice all over again as the best Spidey outside the movies is confirmed for ‘Across the Spider-Verse’

It's official, they're back!

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swung online earlier this month, and sent webslinger stans reeling with its countless cameos from familiar incarnations of the arachnid Avenger from across the multi-media multiverse. Now a stylish new poster has arrived for the eagerly anticipated animated sequel that unveils even more additional Spider-Variants – including confirmation that the best Spidey outside of the movies will be returning for the film.

The poster takes the form of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) dropping down from above to lead an army of Spider-People, with many familiar faces among the crowd. At the bottom right of the poster, next to Spider-Man India, the distinctive mask and eye shape of one Spidey has left devotees of a certain TV series beaming. Yes, it’s Spectacular Spider-Man Spider-Man!

For those that need a reminder, 2008’s The Spectacular Spider-Man is the most acclaimed animated adaptation of Peter Parker and is one of those classic “TV shows that were cancelled too soon” thanks to its truncated two-season run coming to an end when Disney landed the hero’s television rights. But now he’s back!

Fingers crossed he doesn’t just have a silent cameo in the film and voice actor Josh Keaton gets to reprise his role.

There’s no mistaking it, that is our Spectacular Spider-Man, all right.

But, just in case you’re not entirely convinced, here are the facts from the ultimate source. One fan quizzed producer Chris Miller on whether this really is “Spectacular” and Miller made the fandom’s day by assuring us that it is.

In advance of his return in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hitting theaters on June 2, 2023, you can stream all of The Spectacular Spider-Man on Disney Plus.
