Donald Trump leaves rally crowd baffled with bizarre story about swimming giant: ‘the largest human being you’ve ever seen’

“Arms that are 30 feet long.”

Donald Trump making bizarre statements at a rally isn’t exactly news. However, sometimes he says something so strange and so surreal that even his most fervent supporters are left scratching their heads.

Yesterday Trump appeared for a rally in Bullhead City, Arizona, where he spoke for around an hour and 45 minutes in a speech hoping to shore up support for Andy Biggs, the Republican gubernatorial candidate. Biggs could use the boost, as he’s currently trailing in the polls to his Democratic opponent Katie Hobbs.

As is typical for a Trump speech, he meandered between various topics, including claiming that Melania Trump had told him to stop dancing to YMCA on stage, which he described as the “gay national anthem”. But then he moved on to an altogether more surreal topic, his account of some kind of swimming “giant.”

“The giant to her right swam by her so fast that the wind was unbelievable”

Trump is the President of the United States of America, so it’s important we quote him verbatim. On that note, here are the words of the leader of the free world:

“And don’t talk about the swimming. Where you look left and you look right, and then you look a little further right and you see the largest human being you’ve ever seen. Larger than Shaquille O’Neal, with a bigger reach. And the swimmer got hurt badly because she suffered massive windburn. Because the giant to her right swam by her so fast that the wind was unbelievable and she suffered. For the rest of her life, she’ll be suffering from windburn.”

The crowd, which had been politely laughing at his previous comments, appeared somewhat confused. Swimming giants giving women windburn? What is Trump talking about?

Well, this story is something that Trump has previously mentioned at other rallies. He’s previously claimed this gigantic swimmer had (per The Bulwark) “arms that are 30 feet long” and had been so adept in the water that the woman swimming with her had been badly injured by this giant propelling through the water at high speed.

It appears that the strange story has its origins in Trump hearing stories of trans athletes competing in swimming contests. But, over time, it seems the proportions and swimming ability of the “giant” have gradually grown in Trump’s head, resulting in this deeply strange tale.

At the same rally, Trump also boasted that he continues to ace cognitive tests, saying that he’d left doctors saying “holy s–t” that he could repeat five words half an hour after being told to memorize them.
