Woman says a male canvasser knocked at her door and wanted to talk pro-life. Then she asked him: ‘Have you ever been pregnant?’

She explained why she is pro-choice.

A woman who posts on TikTok as Lex Dobry said a young man from Pro-Life America came to her door and asked if she wanted to talk about pro-life. In a self-filmed video that has drawn 181,800 views, she said she refused and then put a series of questions to him about pregnancy, r-pe, and medical decisions.

Dobry appeared on camera with long brown hair and a cream sweater and spoke directly to viewers in one continuous monologue. She said the canvasser showed up the day before and asked, “Do you want to talk for a minute about pro-life?” She described looking him over and thinking he was probably about a 16-year-old boy with a bowl cut.

She said she decided he was the type of person she wanted to have that conversation with, then told him she did not want it. In the video, she recounted saying, “No, nope, I really don’t, because in this house we are pro-choice.” The post’s caption read, “The audacity to have men come door knocking for that subject is beyond disgusting.”

She listed questions she said the canvasser could not answer from experience

Dobry said she then asked whether he really wanted to talk about what she or her daughter should do with their bodies. She asked, “First of all, do you have a vagina? Do you have a uterus?” She answered those questions herself with “No,” and said that already gave her one point on him.

She followed with the question named in the headline of this account: “Have you ever been pregnant?” She again answered “No” on his behalf and said she had another point on him. She then asked, “Have you ever been r-ped?”

Dobry said she had been r-ped and did not become pregnant. She stated, “Lucky enough for me, when I was r-ped, I didn’t end up pregnant, so I didn’t have to make the horrible decision on whether I should keep my r-pist’s child.”

She asked whether he wanted to discuss what her daughter should do if she were r-ped, or if she became pregnant at 17 and did not want to carry the pregnancy. The exchange raises questions about how women experience encounters with men in intimate settings, such as when a pregnant woman felt uncomfortable with a male gynecologist.

She went on to other situations she said he had not lived through. She asked whether he had ever wanted a baby and then, in the third trimester, been told by a doctor, “it’s either you or the baby, which one are you gonna save?” She called that a “horrible, crippling, traumatic decision” between surviving and remaining childless, or dying and never becoming a mother.

Dobry also asked whether he had ever learned that a baby had no heartbeat and still needed an abortion because the pregnancy did not leave the body on its own, a step she said was taken so the woman would not die. She then raised a DNA test showing trisomy 15, or a baby that would not survive the first 48 hours, and the choice of whether to finish that pregnancy.

She described people asking about the gender, the name, and the nursery while the person already knew the baby would die within hours. She said she did not think finishing that pregnancy was worth it.

She closed by saying she did not want a conversation about whether she or her daughter would go to hell if they chose an abortion, and that the choice was theirs. It brings the reality of difficult pregnancy decisions, as in one case where a pregnant woman was speechless after her cheating husband wanted a home birth before she realized his family was influencing him.

Viewers responded under the post. One wrote, “They’re going door to door?! Yikes!” Another said they were saving the remarks for the next knock at the door. That commenter wrote, “I…am writing this down word for word when they come knocking at my door next.”

One commenter focused on what they said happens after a child is born. They wrote, “the thing I hate especially about pro-life is they only care until the baby is born after that they ignore and actively vote to make those kids lives worse. no leave for the parents to be with the kid no health care so it grows healthy.”

Another wrote, “Men will NEVER understand!!! NEVER!! We are brave, we are strong, we are strong!” A further commenter wrote, “how scary it is that our young men are consuming more red pill nonsense than education on women and their bodies.”
