Arrow Star Says Upcoming Elseworlds Crossover Is The Coolest Thing Ever

Fans have high expectations for this year's big Arrowverse crossover. Titled "Elseworlds", the three-night event that will play out over Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl will see the debut of Ruby Rose as Batwoman, the return of Tyler Hoechlin's Superman, a bunch of interesting guest stars and the odd surprise comeback or two. It looks like we won't be missing the Legends of Tomorrow crew, after all.

One Arrowverse star is now upping the hype a bit more, though, as Arrow’s Echo Kellum – who plays Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific – spoke to Extra and teased a little bit about what to expect. In particular, he talked about the strange phenomenon that is Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin swapping costumes for the crossover, as the Green Arrow and the Scarlet Speedster will apparently trade identities.

“I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures of Stephen and Grant having a Freaky Friday/Quantum Leap aspect going on. I think it is something that people have never seen.”

When asked about how Stephen Amell fared in the Flash suit, Kellum said he thought his co-star did a “great job” at trying on the role, though the best thing for the actor was seeing Amell and Gustin together in the other’s costume. In fact, he called it “the coolest thing ever.”

“I think he did a pretty great job. As far as the comfort, I can’t speak to that. It was very much a pinch-myself moment seeing him work with Grant. I thought ‘this is the coolest thing ever.'”

It’s unclear exactly what happens for Oliver Queen and Barry Allen to pull a Freaky Friday, but we’re pretty sure it has to do with reality being rewritten. At least, that’s what’s suggested by the poster’s tagline. It’s also possible that Jeremy Davies’ Dr. John Deegan is behind it, as his name recalls DC comics villain John Dee AKA Doctor Destiny, known for altering reality with his Dreamstone.

“Elseworlds” arrives in just over a month, as it kicks off on Sunday, December 9th on The CW and we can’t wait to see what it’s got in store for the Arrowverse.
