Batwoman Ruby Rose

Batwoman Pilot Will Reportedly Begin Filming In April

According to a Tweet from Discussing Film, The CW's Batwoman pilot, starring Ruby Rose, may begin filming as soon as April 2019.

This Sunday, “Elseworlds” will at long last bring us the debut of Batwoman in The CW’s DC universe, as played by Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose. Understandably, fans are pretty excited to see the Gotham City heroine appear in the Arrowverse in her first ever live-action portrayal and, from everything we’ve seen of her so far, the character looks like she’s leaped straight out of the comics.

At the moment, we’re still not too sure how Kate Kane will factor into “Elseworlds,” but we know that this particular version of Gotham City is without Batman, as he’s been absent for several years, which is why Kate will need to step up and protect the place. That’ll no doubt put her on course to meet Ollie, Barry and Kara, but her adventures won’t stop there, as Batwoman’s also set to get her own solo series on The CW.

And now, we have our first tangible update on the project, as a Tweet from Discussing Film tells us that the pilot may begin filming in April 2019. Unfortunately, there was nothing more revealed aside from that, but if production really is going to get underway then, we should start to get some further details early next year.

Until then, however, let’s revisit some comments Rose made just the other week, when she explained to Entertainment Weekly what it was like to fully suit up.

“It’s a strange feeling to put on a suit like this that has been custom made for you knowing that it’s going to transform you into a character that does amazing things. You feel very empowered and it just instantly changes everything you feel in that moment.”

We don’t doubt that at all, and for your first look at Ruby Rose in action as Batwoman, be sure to tune in this weekend for “Elseworlds,” which kicks off on December 9th with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10th with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11th with Supergirl. Don’t miss it.
