One interesting similarity came to my mind as I looked back on some of my favorite TV shows and characters that were sadly omitted from my Best of 2015 lists so far (TV Shows and Moments). Great shows – Veep, Homeland, Orphan Black – were barely edged out by the shows I liked ever-so-better, but there’s one thing that they all had in common: abnormally compelling women characters.
So I’m just going to cut to the chase here, because this list is longer than my usual ones (deservedly so): I’ll get to talk about a handful of shows I missed out on the first few times, and I’ll do it with a justifiable focus on all the women who crushed their respective performances. As usual, some inclusions will be a slight retread from my earlier lists, but they’re just too good to omit.
