Now, the same source has uploaded photos of a new figure who’s looking a lot less human. This frog-like creature was spotted bearing his teeth in Southern California, and while it’s unclear whether this will be a major character or just a background extra, he should at least add a little flavor to the project’s small screen world.

Though this setting is looking increasingly like Tatooine, official details remain thin on the franchise’s first live action series. The show’s first summary, however, does inform us that the story will be “set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order” and will focus on “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.” From here, some have speculated that the title character is actually a human named Cobb Vanth, a gunslinger from the Star Wars books who inherits the armor of Boba Fett after the events of Return of the Jedi.

That’s just speculation at the moment, but you can expect a few hard facts to come our way now that shooting has begun. In particular, the cast of The Mandalorian could do with a little demystifying – both in terms of the lead part, and whether or not those reports of roles for Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard were legit.
